I finally got the chance to buy Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara over the weekend. I’ve heard some good and some bad about this mascara so I couldn’t resist trying it on myself. This new mascara from Maybelline cosmetics supposedly creates volume instantly with no clumps using its patented mega brush and it’s washable.
So what was the result?
Lets just say I was highly disappointed. First off, the brush was huge which didn’t do wonders for my thin lashes. Secondly, it dried too fast and left some flakes around my eyes. This was with one coat too! Very disappointing. Lastly, I surely didn’t see a difference in volume compared to other mascaras.
I think I’ll just stick with my DiorShow mascara. Ladies, save your money with this one!

Rock and Republic, the high end denim line, has surprisingly stepped into the cosmetics world. Rock and Republic new cosmetics line introduces their denim line inspired black and chromed compacts thus reflecting the line’s flashy trend. It’s all about the glitz and glamour and they are definitely showcasing that for all the world to see. The makeup line has already been seen on the models in the Spring 2009 Collection at Fashion Week.
This luxury collection includes lipglosses, mascara, brushes, high pigmented eyeshadows, and a bronzer encased in a Swarovski Crystal-embedded compact. Sexy shades and textures that could run some of these cosmetics company out of town. The cost ranges from $18-$225. Ouch!
As much as I love Rock and Republic denim line and the fabulous products in the new cosmetics line, I can’t see myself shelving out $225 for a bronzer. They are nice to look at but way too expensive for me to take home.
For all you makeup lovers that don’t mind spending major dough for this new cosmetics line, this 116-piece collection is available at Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and at their website www.RockandRepublicCosmetics.com

Wonder what’s the one thing I always keep in my purse? What’s my necessity? Well I’ll give you a hint- It keeps my lips soft all day long. Figured it out yet? No?….. It’s Softlips. Duh!
Softlips is great for treating dry, cracked lips especially during the upcoming winter months and it’s loaded with SPF for those hot summer days. This has been my secret weapon since highschool and now I’m super excited because I found a newer product from Softlips called Softlips Tinted Lip Conditioner. Honestly, I don’t know how new it is but it’s new to me. It’s always great when you accidentally find a great beauty product at drugstores. Anyway, Softlips tinted lip conditioner moisturizes your lips while adding a hint of color. It also protects the lips too with SPF 15.
They come in three amazing colors:
- Rose
- Bronze
- Pearl (Newest One)
It goes on smoothly and it gives your lips that extra shimmer. I sometimes where it alone or I use my MAC lipglass right on top of it for that extra shine and for a sexier pout. If you haven’t tried Softlips, stop by your local drugstore and pick one up. Trust me, you’ll love it.

The Emmy Awards is finally over and now I can spill on my favorite picks on the red carpet. Several of the stars looked gorgeous on the carpet; but, a few really caught my attention: Heidi Klum, Eva Longoria Parker, Christina Applegate and several others. All these ladies looked fab from head to toe. I’m talking about hair, makeup, and dress all looked amazing.

However….No one did it better than Ms. Ugly Betty star America Ferrera. She looked absolutely stunning. Loved the dress with the ruching on the side. I didn’t think she would wear a black dress especially a vintage one. She really pulled it off and she looks great in it. Her hair and makeup couldn’t look better. Definitely my favorite. You Go Ms. Betty!

Who was your favorite?

I am loving this Marie Claire UK cover of Beyonce. I’ve always been a fan of her music and style and she looks fabulous in this issue of Marie Claire UK. I really like the makeup in her photos. The nude lips with the smokey eyes look hot. Then again, the smokey eye look is the trend this fall.
Check out another photo of her in this October issue:
