Lining & Defining Made Simpler With These Liquid Liner Pen

Guest post from my friends at The Find!

Let’s face it — no matter how much practice you’ve had, or how adept you’ve become in your makeup application process, liquid eyeliner can still be pretty tricky. I mean, not only can the slightest slip or shake of the hand totally throw you off your game, but its distinct, harsh lines make it much harder to cover up a job not-so-well done. But as intimidating as it can be, liquid liner creates that bold, defined look that you can’t achieve in quite the same way with an easier-to-use pencil…. so the solution? Liquid liner pens, which pack the punch of a liquid liner in a less wobbly, more precise felt-tip applicator! It totally makes sense, after all – it’s a lot easier to be exact with a pen than it is with a brush, so just think of it as a tracing exercise, and the feat of lining eyes the liquid way is a much less daunting feat!

Urban Decay Urban Lash: So Easy An 8 Year Old Could Do It!

Guest post from my friends at The Find!

I’d actually love to put Urban Decay’s“8-year-old” claim to the test if I didn’t think it would be a waste of a perfectly good pair of lashes, but regardless, I do agree that applying lashes is much easier than most timid beauty queens seem to think. In fact, I thought the same thing about fake lash application once upon a time — too complicated, too messy, too easy to mess up –
but I quickly mastered the craft (with only one drugstore pair casualty) and now I’m completely addicted to fake lashes! While I
blame Sephora’s huge Lash Bar for converting me to the fringe side, I’m convinced that Urban Decay’s new Urban Lash line would have done the trick if I wasn’t already obsessed by now!

Boasting an impressive array of over 18 different lashes, conveniently categorized by length, style, difficulty and drama factor (Color, Drama, Easy, Natural), it’s hard to find a pair of lashes that doesn’t suit your style, or doesn’t make you tempted to try them on! Plus, while the lashes look a bit intimidating in the package, the Urban Decay site provides a handy photo with each pair on a model, so you can see the actual effect on an actual pair of eyes. Trust me, I’ve spent quite some time studying each pair, and after some careful consideration, I can’t wait to try out Vamp, which the site describes as long spiky lashes w/ shorter criss-cross hairs. If you’re already a lash queen, or are open to taking these for a test run, be sure to check out Urban Lash for yourself!

How To Achieve Brighter Eyes Instantly

How To Achieve Brighter Eyes Instantly

A simple makeup trick to make your eyes appear brighter and wider is to use a pearly white shadow or champagne color highlighter shadow underneath the brow bone. Trust me, you’ll see a dramatic difference with your eyes and your eyebrows will look more defined. How To Achieve Brighter Eyes Instantly

This tip is very easy to do and it’s done a lot by makeup artist to add some lift to your eyes. A great product to try is Benefit’s High Brow ($20) but any pearly eyeshadow will work too. High Brow is a creamy, pale pink shade with no shimmer in it and is very easy to blend.

To apply:  Sweep a thin line underneath your brows and blend. Voila! Instant eye-opening and lift effect.

To try another trick check out Carmindy’s tip to brighten eyes by finding a shade opposite your natural eye color. Check it out on Stylelist.com

I hope you enjoyed this beauty tip of the week!

Teal Eye Makeup Is Everywhere This Summer! (The Find)

Before you write this off as a resurrected 80s makeup trend that really should have been left in the graveyard of terrible fads, hear me out! Teal eye makeup is totally coming back, just in time to cool us down for summer. Reminiscent of sparkly tropic waters (live vicariously even if you can’t afford an exotic vacay this summer!), teal liner and shadow is totally gorgeous and refreshing when done right! The key to pulling it off is keeping the rest of your makeup fairly minimal; in other words, go for a nude, taupe, or soft pink lip to avoid looking costume-y, and if you opt for a shimmery teal shade, lay off the shimmer from the rest of your face (one sparkly feature at a time, ladies)!

If you want a pop of color while still playing it fairly safe, make your peepers really stand out by replacing your plain black liner with a teal one like LORAC’s liner on your lower lash line and inner rim. The look is totally fresh and unexpected for a warm summer day (less harsh than black), not to mention fashion-forward! If you’re braver with your makeup, or perhaps looking for a cool night-out look, try teal shades for a smoky eye. This CARGO SmokyEye Duo palette in Barcelona comes with both a cream and powder shadow in coordinating teal shades to amp up your club look without looking clownish! While the look works best on hazel or brown eyes, blue or green-eyed ladies can make the color work when worn in small quantities!

Givenchy PhenomenEyes Effet Extension in Purple Impression (The Find)

Guest post from The Find!

In my quest for the ultimate mascara, I’ve had my eye on Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Effet Extension. It has a unique brush that differentiates it from many of the other department store brands. Givenchy’s hi-tech brush extends individual lashes for eye widening effects with a precision designed spherical brush—adding volume with a no-time-to-waste quick dry formula for full blown fluttering drama. It is a bit pricey at $29.

One thing that intrigued me is the shade of violet that the forumla is available in. It is a limited-edition color and is named “Purple Impression”. I have been seeing more and more shades of purple eye color for spring. I haven’t yet delved in to the non-black mascaras, yet but I will be trying purple this spring when the weather warms up. This shade is dark enough not to look garish or costume-y as would a shade of blue. I plan to layer this over my regular shade of black mascara as well, for a subtle purple/black effect. What do you think of the Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Effet Extension in Purple Impression’s? Will you try purple mascara this spring?
