I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve never suffered from tragically sparse lashes (okay, except for maybe that terrible time when I sneezed while attempting to operate a lash curler). On their own, I’d say my eyelashes are on the average side in terms of thickness and length, but when it comes to beautifying, my usual rule of thumb regarding lashes is that more is more (within reason, of course). That said, I’m almost always game to test the latest innovation in lengthening mascaras (except for maybe that weird vibrating lash wand that came out a few years back – no thanks!), and I do have quite the collection of false lashes that I break out for even casual occasions. However, I don’t appreciate picking glue out of lashes the morning after, even after a good scrub-down with my favorite makeup remover, so if a product boasts that it can give me falsie-worthy lashes without the stickiness, I’m ready to try it! Too Faced’s ‘Better Than False Lashes’ Nylon Lash Extension System is a two-piece, three-step kit that includes using the mascara as an activating base, then applying brush-on nylon fibers that adhere to lashes without the commitment of pro extensions, then sealing the fibers with a final coat of the ultra-black mascara. Unlike similar fiber-based mascaras, Too Faced’s version allows you to more easily control the buildable fibers so you can master the exact length and thickness you’re looking for. And let’s face it – for only $35, it’s certainly more affordable than pro extensions… and a lot easier on the commitment-phobes!

I’ve recently made the tricky transition from pencil liner to liquid liner for my daily beautifying routine. After all, I love how liquid liner boasts a significantly more concentrated color, providing a much more stark contrast to my eyeshadow… but I don’t love that the application requires significantly more concentration, time, and steadiness, leaving no room for error. Naturally, I’m not alone in this love-hate sentiment towards liquid liner, and the folks at Clinique have heard our unspoken prayers and answered them with a handy new product. Quickliner for Eyes Intense is an amped-up version of their original Quickliner – same easy glide-on formula that applies as easily as a pencil liner – but this time with the color intensity of a liquid! With five shades under its belt, Quickliner Intense gives us that look-at-me definition without requiring the steady hand and practiced skill required of most liquid liners, and lasts even longer than its product predecessor to boot! And for only $15 a pop, you might as well stock up on all 5 shades!

What It Is:
Mary Kay Cream Eye Color in Pale Blush, Beach Blonde and Apricot Twist
Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
Cream eyeshadows are a great and versatile tool to have in your makeup bag. They can be used on their own, to give a shiny wash of color, or as a base to give longevity to your powder shadows or amp up their pigmentation. I love using cream shadows when I don’t have much time to do my makeup; they help me to look polished and are so quick!
