For flawless and more eventone skin, foundation is used to camoflouge your imperfections. It’s my life saver and when combined with a concealer, powder or both, I feel much more comfortable stepping out. However, not everyone uses foundation and that’s fine. In fact, many skip this part and uses only a concealer and powder because either they don’t need it or they don’t like the feeling of foundation on their face. Since everyone’s skin is different, I always find it best to just experiment and find out what’s best for you. I think all women should have some kind of foundation even if you wear it only during special occasions.
If your skin is not troublesome, then an alternative option is a tinted moisturizer. I use one too especially during the summer. I tend to wear foundation less often during the day due to the heat.
If you like to wear foundation but don’t know the proper technique, then keep reading!
HOW TO APPLY FOUNDATION (LIQUID)
- Moisturize skin- Wait 5 to 10 minutes before applying foundation. That should be enough time for the skin to absorb it.
- Using the back of your hand, squeeze a little amount of your foundation.
- With a brush, sponge, or fingers, (I like to use a brush) dab small amount into the foundation.
- When applying on the face, always start at the forehead and work your way down. Blending is very important so make sure to blend down to your nose, cheeks and then chin. You just want a very thin layer.
- To cover up any imperfections, blemishes or discoloration, use a concealer and a apply with a brush or you can use your fingers. A brush is better!
- To finish, grab a large fluffy brush and tap it in powder and glide lightly all over your face.
This is a very basic application that anyone even a beginner can do. Even though there are several types of foundations out there like cream-based, stick, powder, and etc, it doesn’t matter as long as you follow the rules of makeup application: foundation first, concealer second, and powder at the end.

Many of the products shown above are quite popular and can work for any skintone (Ex: Benetint, Smashbox O-glow, Tarte Natural Cheek Stain, and Stila Gel Cheek Color); but, which ones are the best at giving your cheeks a nice glow?
I narrowed down my list to 11 blushes which I believe are the best out there based on my own personal experience.

This week I ran across a bottle of Yes to Carrots “Can you C Me Eye and Face Makeup Remover “ at Target and thought I would give it a try. It is basically a milky cleanser. I have used Yes To Carrot’s conditioner on my hair but hadn’t tried any of their skincare products. I have been using Arcona for my daily cleansing routine. I was curious about the brand’s paraben free products and anti-oxidant rich ingredients. The price can’t be beat. I picked up a bottle for $6.99 (8.45 oz); it was marked down from $9.99 at Target. So I thought why not give it a try.
The primary ingredients include carrot juice, pumpkin (just in time for Halloween!), sweet potato and Dead Sea mud. It includes some of my favorite foods and Dead Sea mud is definitely full of vitamin rich minerals. Not to mention that all of the fruits and veggies used in the products are pesticide-free and organic. The products are not tested on animals. What’s not to love?
I am a busy working mom, so time is of the essence and the fact that this product can take off my eye AND face makeup all in one fell swoop is worth sharing. The product is lightly scented and very rich and creamy. I can say that it took off my mascara, eyeliner and foundation/blush very effectively. But I did have to apply the cleanser to a cotton ball to remove all traces of eye makeup. I also used the product for cleansing when I was not wearing makeup in the morning and evening. It is very soothing and not drying at all. I’m quite happy with the product and am now inclined to try other products from the range.

A good blush gives a lit-from-within, healthy-looking glow, something we all strive for with our makeup. A bad blush gives a streaky, sparkly, clownish look — not attractive. Luckily, TotalBeauty.com readers have tried tons of blushes, and here we share their favorites. Give them a try, they guarantee you wont look like you’re auditioning for the circus.
