LWren Scott for Lancome Holiday 2010 Collection

Designer L’Wren Scott’s collaborates with Lancome to launch a makeup line for the holiday season. The line includes nail polish ($14.50), lipstick ($29.00), lipgloss ($29.00), eyeshadow palette ($42.00), and mascara ($24.50). I really love the glam in this collection. Can’t wait for the launch!

The ad campaign was shot by Mario Testino starring Daria Werbowy in a L’Wren Scott dress.

“The first thing I thought of was that I wanted to do my signature red — my bordeaux,” explained Scott, who worked with Lancôme’s artistic director for makeup, Aaron De Mey, on the capsule collection, which includes a red lipstick, lip gloss and nail polish, among other items.

Scott said she told Lancôme executives, “I would like to try to interpret a red lipstick that could be worn from day to night.” Proffering a makeup-stained hand from earlier demonstrations, she showed how the lipstick can look sheer or dark, depending on its application. “And when you put the gloss on, it takes on a whole other life,” said Scott. — WWD

Fashion Porn: Red Orgy (College Candy)

by Diana Ajih on December 14, 2009

in holiday

I’m starting to get into the Christmas spirit.  While I’m listening to classics like Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You, or new favorites like Lady Gaga’s Christmas Tree, I find the holiday red colorChristmas spirit inspiring my wardrobe.  My favorite way to express my Christmas cheer: wearing red.

Red is a confidence color, making you feel hot, hot, hot when you wear it.  As red is known to boost self-confidence it is the perfect color to wear to family dinner when you’re facing interrogation from your Aunts as to why you don’t have a boyfriend yet. Red is also known to attract men, so put on that sexy red dress if you’re single (or wanting to impress your beau) when you’re hitting the town.

There are many fabulous ways to wear red this year – from the sexy red dress to the bold red bag – and here are just a few of my favorite ways to rock the hottest holiday color.

7 Hot Lip Glosses for Scarlet Red Season

by Diana Ajih on December 7, 2009

scarlet red

Want to feel sexy in red lipstick but feel it’s too intimidating? I hear ya! I usually would stay away from red lipstick because I always assumed that it’s not appealing on African-Americans. Well I recently learned that this is far from the truth. Scarlett red is in this holiday/winter season and if red lipstick is too daring for you, consider going the red lip gloss route.

Red lips has a classic appeal with a hint of drama. What I love most about a gloss is the range of formulas. If you’re looking for something that’s subtle, try a sheer formula or a richer gloss formula  for added color.

Sexify your pout by checking out these hot red glosses!!

  1. Christian Dior’s Rouge Dior Creme de Gloss ($26)- A balance of lipstick and gloss with a hint of shimmer.
  2. Chanel Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer in Dragon ($32)- Berry red color for a more cool tone.
  3. Nars Lip Gloss in Bloodwork ($26)- Described as “red vinyl” that’s very opaque with a red blush-tone.
  4. Urban Decay XXX Shine Lip GLoss ($16)- A sheer candy apple red color. Seen in a Betsey Johnson show!
  5. Benetint ($28)- Not exactly a lip gloss. It’s a rosy red stain that can be used on the cheeks and on the lips. The color stays on for a long time.
  6. Purple Lab’s Huge Lips Skinny Hips Lip Gloss in Red Sole ($20)- A very sheer formula to add a hint of color to your pout
  7. Stila’s Lip Enamel in Joy ($22)- Give your lips some extra shine with this blue-based lip gloss!

Do you have a favorite scarlet red lipstick or lip gloss?
