Bobbi Brown Holiday 2011 Collection

by Diana Ajih on September 29, 2011

in Bobbi Brown, holiday beauty

Bobbi Brown gives us a sneak peek of her upcoming Holiday 2011 Collection. A collection filled with a variety of gorgeous eyeshadow palettes and sexy lip shades to achieve the ultra-glam party look.

1991 Lip Palette (Retail $60.00)

In 1991, discouraged by the lack of flattering lip colors that were available, Bobbi took to making her own. She created ten lipstick shades that had a brown base, which was in her opinion the most natural complement to a woman’s skin tone. After a small editorial mention in a magazine, Bobbi was soon taking countless phone orders from her home and it wasn’t long before she caught the attention of Bergdorf Goodman, which ultimately launched her eponymous collection. Bobbi hoped that she would sell 100 lipsticks in her first month at the store—and she ended up selling them in just one day. Created in celebration of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics’ 20th anniversary, the Limited Edition 1991 Palette features the original ten lipsticks as well as ten NEW bright, modern and wearable colors that showcase how the brand has evolved in the past 20 years. All the shades can be worn alone or mixed together to create your own unique shade.

Illamasqua gives us something to cheer about this upcoming holiday season. Here’s a sneak peek at its newest holiday 2011 collection: Theatre of the Nameless.

Descend into the riotous scene of erotic adventure that is THE THEATRE OF THE NAMELESS, nocturnal den of the dissident leaders of underworld subcultures. Exotic dancers rub shoulders with expressionist actors and performers; nudists and Boot Girls openly compete for the Conférencier’s eye; and all participate in the Club’s endless, pleasure-seeking rituals, immersing themselves in a heady world of sensual delight …

Teased by the sweet, pungent tang of opium, the air throbs with the electric shock of lovers’ flesh. Dare to feel the intensity of the club’s intimate caress, and abandon yourself to the glorious wonders of unfettered night-time make-up.

“Theatre Of The Nameless is a heady mixture of opulent hues, decadent pigments and fearless application. A bruised and burnished pallet that gives a sensual slip that bleeds colour into colour, worn through and kissed off.” — Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director

Infused with the essence of self-expression that transformed 1920s Berlin, this rich and indulgent collection envelops the senses. Darkly sophisticated tones are accompanied by shocks of dazzling iridescence, creating a breathtakingly modern interpretation of the most illicit nightlife in history.

Here’s a sneak peek of Guerlain Holiday Color Collection 2011: Belle de Nuit.

During the 1920’s and 1930’s, pioneers in aviation accomplished unimaginable feats and these brave pilots became instant, worldwide heroes.  It was during this revolutionary period, in 1933, that Jacques Guerlain composed the legendary perfume Vol de Nuit, meaning “Night Flight,” as a tribute to the most famous women aviators of his time. Named for the second book written by his close friend Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Guerlain’s creation was a bold oriental fragrance that served as ode to all fearless women. Comprised of woody, vanilla and powdery iris notes, Vol de Nuit was for the woman who laughs in the face of fear, for whom nothing is impossible. For Guerlain’s Holiday 2011 make-up collection Belle de Nuit, Creative Director Oliver Échaudemaison takes his inspiration from this legendary fragrance.  Evoking the changing shades of the night sky, he created daring tones that are both dark and dramatic with mesmerizing iridescent accents. With lacquered and blue-green details, the products are incased within boxes that reveal the blue and black zebra motif found on the original Vol de Nuit box design. Belle de Nuit is a sophisticated and enchanting limited edition collection that is as fleeting as nightfall.

The holiday collection features:

Vol de Nuit Perfumed Shimmer Powder for Face & Body – Retail $87.00

Make-up and fragrance merge in this ultimate holiday accessory! The light and luminous powder wraps the skin with a veil of iridescent shimmer while being deliciously fragranced by the notes that comprise Vol de Nuit: a green and woody composition, softened by vanilla and iris. The universal pale pink shade is accentuated with blue-green and silvery hues to leave the face, body and hair sparkling.  The bottle reinterprets that of the original Vol de Nuit, which was revolutionary at the time by being the first to combine glass and metal.  The green-blue lacquered glass is adorned with graphics reminiscent of a propeller, conjuring up the image of a plane travelling across the starry depths.

Parure de Nuit Pressed Powder & Blush -Retail $67.00

More than a mere powder compact, Parure de Nuit is a lightly, violet scented skin-enhancer that is a perfect partner for night birds. As light as a feather on the skin, the pale pink, white, deep pink and blue green colors are topped with an iridescent and translucent sheen forming a universal harmony which gives the face an instant glow. Its black lacquer case conceals an extremely soft goat-hair brush.

Ways to Apply:

  • To even out and illuminate the complexion, sweep the brush over the four shades and apply all over the face.
  • To highlight and sculpt the face, sweep over the three feathers diagonally and apply to the cheekbones for a sophisticated blush effect.

Météorites Perles de Nuit- Retail $56.00

The cult favorite is back and reinvented this holiday season. Although the formula remains untouched, Météorites Perles de Nuit leaves the face glowing and radiant with a new tailor-made harmony. Five perfectly smooth pearls correct, illuminate and even out the skin. It is composed of pink pearls to capture light, white to illuminate the complexion, gold to reflect light, orange to boost radiance and silver to add shimmer without whitening the skin.

Les Ombres de Nuit 4-Colour Palette – Retail $59.00

Guerlain has developed a new color harmony made especially for night owls. The two textures create smoky, seductive and spellbinding eyes that will last from twilight to the deepest night hours. An iridescent texture of green, blue and grey pearlescent particles release luminous color with an extremely metallic finish and combine with an extra-matte black shadow that offers an incredibly comfortable finish for a precise, intense liner effect.

  • Limited Edition Shade: 10 Les Ombres de Nuit

Rouge Automatique – Retail $35.00

The thirties icon Rouge Automatique is back and is more modern and attractive than ever. A homage to Art Deco, it has become this year’s indispensible accessory for women.  The case opens and closes at the flick of a hand revealing two new shades for holiday. Seductive, yet innocent, in Rouge Automatique, Guerlain has created a second-skin texture allowing for long-lasting wear.

Two limited edition shades:

  • 169 Flirt d’un Jour: A soft and luminous pink, evocative of passionate kisses.
  • 170 Nuit d’Amour: A surprising black red that reveals an intense plum color on the lips.

Available: Guerlain’s Holiday Colour collection is available beginning October 2011 at select locations of Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Sephora, Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman.

If you’re a child of the 80s, you may have a soft spot in your heart for Kermit, Miss Piggy and the rest of the Muppet gang. And in turn, you’re likely secretly super stoked for the upcoming Muppets movie starring Amy Adams and Jason Segel coming out this upcoming holiday season. But does that mean they have any business invading your favorite nail trends?! Sure, it seems like anything goes lately when it comes to the haute manicure hues of the moment (whether dark and dramatic, neon, or nude – it’s hard to keep up!), but an OPI Muppets collection for Holiday 2011? Really? The 13-piece collection (including a special-edition gold crackle shade!), is a big one even for the nail color bigwig, which churns out multiple collections each season. And despite it’s off-the-wall inspiration, the selection of shades is surprisingly quite well-rounded, representing both practical and whacky shades alike. Including 6 different interpretations of red (after all, tis the season!), ranging from sparkly fiery shades to stark dramatic plums, as well rainbow glitter, the collection switches up literal translations of your favorite Muppets (sparkly Gonzo blue and a copper Fozzie-inspired shade) with fashion-forward colors to suit your favorite holiday parties. What do you think – will you be staking out this new collection when it hits shelves this fall?

Just when I thought I was done shopping through all the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales madness, I realized I had a few more people who were still without gifts. Shopping during the last few days before Christmas is a nightmare which is why I like to plan early and do all my Christmas shopping before December even arrives. Luckily for me, these gifts are for coworkers so I don’t have to think of anything grand.

How is your Christmas shopping going? Doing some last minute gift shopping? Are you just like me who is suffering in the pouring rain out here in Los Angeles, trying to purchase last minute holiday gifts? Probably not, but if you trying to find something for everyone, one great idea would be to buy fewer big presents.
