Is pink the new red this spring? Oh yeah! With the weather warming up, so does our makeup. Pink and coral lips are the “it” color beauty trends for Spring 2010. Here are a couple of my favorite pink and coral lip color shades. Stock up for spring!
1. Too Face Girls Dig Pearls Lip Gloss in Mermaid($18)- A pearlescent lip gloss that achieves radiant shine from real crushed sea pearls. It comes in several gorgeous pink shades but Mermaid, a pinkish beige shade is my favorite. You can wear it alone or on top of your lipstick for added glossiness.
2. Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in April ($18)- This gloss is loaded with antioxidants that keeps lips moisturized and hydrated. It also slightly plumps your lips up too for a more sexier pout. I fell in love with April, a shimmering icy pink shade at first glance.
3. Cover Girl Shine Blast in Ignite ($7.99)- I’m a big fan of Cover Girl’s newest glosses because I love the high-gloss finish.
4. Nars Easy Lover Lip Gloss ($24)- This gloss is my favorite product from NARS Spring Collection. It is so pretty and all I can say is Easy Lover is so easy to love.
5. Bobbi Brown Metallic Lip Gloss in Coral Sand ($20)- A gorgeous coral hue. To be honest, I just love all the warm tones in Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection.

Having chapped lips is not fun. It is caused by a number of factors, including cold and dry weather, dehydration, sun exposure, and lip biting. Our lips lacks natural oils to protect against harmful weather unlike our skin. The best protection for chapped lips is prevention but for people who already suffers from it, there are several solutions to treat it.
Looking for ways to keep heal your chapped lips and shield it from future chapping? Here are 7 ways to treat your dry, chapped lips.
1. Apply a lip balm- Coating your lips with a lip balm is a common way to deal with chapped lips. Using a lip balm with a sunblock is even better especially if you’re going to be outside in the sun.
2. Water- Keep your lips hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Water feeds our cells keeping it moisturized and healthy.
3. No Alcohol- Stay away from any lip products that contain alcohol. It will surely worsen the condition making your lips more dry and even painful.
4. Vitamin B-2 Supplements- If you have a thyroid hormone imbalance or Vitamin B deficiency, it can be an indicator for the cracked corners around your mouth. Implementing a healthy diet and taking Vitamin-B supplements can help treat it.
5. Stop Licking Your Lips- I have a tendency to do this a lot and it is a big no no. It’s best to avoid licking because the saliva will eventually evaporate leaving your lips dry.
6. Avoid going outside- For days that are extremely windy, cold, and dry, stay inside. If you must leave the house, then apply a good amount of lip balm to protect your lips.
7. Be patient- Your lips will not completely heal overnight. It can take a week for your lips to be soft again so in the meantime, take care of yourself.
Lip balms are conventional for treating dry, chapped lips. Here are a few balms I recommend to prevent and heal chapping.
- Kiehls Lip Balm- One of my favorite lip balm because it does a great job protecting my lips during the winter months and the mango smell is very tasty. It also includes SPF 4 sunscreen. ($8.50)
- The Body Shop Shea Lip Care Stick- A mix of shea butter and coconut oil is pure genius. Shea butter and coconut oil contains great healing properties and the perfect combination to soften lips. ($15 for two)
- Burt Bee’s Lip Balm- Economical and a drugstore classic. There’s a reason why this peppermint scented, bees wax balm is such a popular choice for dry lips. It works like a charm! ($3.00)
- Carmex- Another excellent choice to heal chapped lips. It gives great protection with a lovely mint scent. ($1.50, can’t beat that!)
- Rosebud Salve- I’ve recently became a fan of this balm because not only does it heal dry lips, it treats dry elbows, knees, and soothes minor burns. A multipurpose balm that’s very convenient! ($6.00)
- Chapstick- It is still the best out there because it offers a wide range of balms to treat, moisturize, and protect your lips. I’ve used it since I was little and it has been by my side ever since. ($1.69)

Are the antibacterial hand gels, face masks, and multivitamins just not cutting out? With the cold and flu season vastly approaching, we must protect ourselves with effective germ-fighting solutions. Like…a lip balm?
Let LaRocca Skincare attack germs and bacteria with its Lip Shield Multiactive Lip Balm. This lip balm is loaded with flu-fighting ingredients: mangosteen extract and Brazilian cha de burge for their antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral powers; Camu Camu, the Amazonian fruit has tons of Vitamin C which helps to strengthen the immune system, maintain healthy gums, eyes, and skin. It also helps protect your lips from herpes. Colloidal Gold is also known to help stimulate cell regeneration and has superior anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties.
While fighting off germs, your lips stay healthy and soft. Sea Buckthorn provides vitamins and minerals while L-Arginine heals the lips. Hyaluronic Acid brings moisture back to the lips.
I love this lip balm! It’s good to know I have a lip balm with a one, two, punch on bacteria and viruses.

As we say hello to fall and cooler weather wind and dry air can take a toll on your lips. I have tried many lip balms, from $25 a stick at the department store to 99-cent versions from the drugstore. I had also used the Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm, but I found the peppermint oil a bit strong. So I thought I’d give their Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil a try. And boy I’m glad I did! I love this lip balm and I haven’t had chapped lips since using it. I love the light fruity taste and the notion of the pomegranate oil working its antioxidant magic to keep my lips smooth is a plus. There has been alot of buzz around pomegranate and its health benefits. The juice, extract and oil from the seed of the fruit, are rich in anti-oxidants that fight free radicals. Pomegranate oil contains punicic acid that is an Omega 5 conjugated fatty acid used to replenish moisture.
I am also a fan of Burt’s Bees because of their commitment to using all natural products. I use the baby shampoo and bath for my daughter because it does not contain sodium laureth sulfate or parabens. The company is also committed to reducing waste in packaging and it eliminated the shrink wrapping used to seal its lip balm products. One small change eliminates over 1800 miles of shrink wrap film that would have been sent to the landfill — enough to wrap the Statue of Liberty 100 times. Now that is something to smile about!
