Not everyone has the fashion budget to stock their summer closet with apparel from Thakoon’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection (we can only dream!), but luckily for us makeup collectors, we can still infuse a bit of the designer’s Bollywood-inspired runway to our everyday looks this season! Thakoon Panichgul’s first-ever collaboration with beauty brand NARS brings us a limited-edition six-piece collection of gorgeously bright nail lacquers. Right on-trend with this season’s festive warm-weather brights, all six shades are inspired by the exotic, high-impact hues found in Indian spice markets. From the fiery orange-red Lal Mirchi to the cyan blue Koliary, each shade retails for $18 a pop and delivers a glossy, long-lasting, chip-resistant wear. While all six shades are gorgeous, my personal favorite is the sunny yellow, Amchoor, which is the perfect in-your-face yellow without verging on blindingly neon! You can find them all online as of May 1st!

Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet never fails to serve up plenty of feminine frocks and sequined sheaths season after season, but for a change, we’ve got our sights set on the trend-setting beauty looks demonstrated in the line’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway show several months back. As predicted, we beauty mavens still have an obsession with nail art, and we’re digging the models’ fresh black-and-white striped mani as a chic alternative to the tried-and-true solid brights and barely-there nudes. Luckily, this luxe mani isn’t nearly as difficult as it looks, and you can cop the style yourself, no appointment required (in fact, you don’t even have to leave your house)! Start off with a couple coats of a nice pure, opaque white hue, like China Glaze’s White Out. Make sure it’s been given ample time to dry, then hand-paint some sleek stripes with a black nail pen like Sally Hansen’s Nail Art Pens. And just to make sure your effort doesn’t go to waste, be sure to top off with a no-chip top coat; personally, I’m a fan of Essie’s No Chips Ahead!

And the winner is….Duri Cosmetics!
With the Oscars this Sunday night, the red carpet will include an assortment of matched and color-blocked mani/pedi’s painted “best-dressed” with the season’s most desired shades thanks to Duri’s Red Carpet Collection. From walking the carpet and clutching that coveted award to hosting your own viewing party or watching from home, Duri’s assortment of glitzy, glamorous hues are sure to cast all eyes on fingers and toes all season long.
The red carpet collection includes six gorgeous shades:
Try Paparazzi and get the cameras flashing with an envious majestic green lacquer infused with a midas touch of sparkle. Fashion Police will fend off “worst dressed” status with a light blue shimmering hue. Addicted to Fame’s fiery orange hue will satisfy the hunger and Tabloid Rumors will keep nails under the radar dressed in a subtle shade of brick grey shimmer.
Going from one event to another…hook up with Limo Ride (copper shimmer) or go Behind the Scenes (royal purple) at the biggest Oscar Party (emerald shimmer). Create the uber Celebrity Scandal and steal the scene with nails foiled in liquid metallic silver and before the season is over…be sure to visit the VIP Lounge at least once for full access to the perfect and classic deep, rich burgundy.
All Duri Cosmetics nail products are completely safe, environmentally friendly and free from DBP, TOLUENE and FORMALDEHYDE.
The collection is available online at www.duri.com, as well as salons and specialty stores nationwide.

As we get older, there are certain things we must say goodbye to. Glitter eyeshadow, pink hairstreaks, and cheesy Hello Kitty nail decals are a few. But we wondered: Is there a way to wear nail art after 30 without getting one-eyebrow-raised looks from your family, friends, and co-workers? While Deborah Lippmann has opted to go extra-sparkly with glitter-infused lacquers for her holiday collection, fellow big-name polish brand Essie has taken an alternative course for its winter 2011 collection. With a series of six creamy jewel-toned colors, Essie takes a break from its signature sheers and neon brights to embrace some gorgeous, statement-making glossy opaque shades. While a couple of the shades take inspiration from a rather literal holiday scheme (for example, the ruby red Size Matters and the minty sage green School of Hard Rocks), others opt to stay on-trend with chic takes on the latest must-have colors, like nude, navy, and lavender. And it’s hard to resist the coordinating jewelry-inspired names, like Cocktail Bling, Bobbing for Baubles, and Brooch the Subject. Doesn’t get much more adorable than that! Overall, I love the shades’ ultra-glossy finish, even without a topcoat, and the fact that they’re so creamy and opaque is definitely a selling point! What do you think – are you pleased with the brand’s holiday collection?
