It’s Time to Exfoliate and Get Polished for Spring

Its Time to Exfoliate and Get Polished for Spring

Yes, the days are longer and I am hoping that the sun is shining in your part of the country. It’s time to pack away heavy winter pants and tights and bare legs with swingy skirts for spring! I don’t know about you, but my legs are in need of some tender loving care. Now is the time to get in the habit (if you aren’t already) for a weekly exfoliation on your arms and legs. Wash away dead dry skin and reveal a smoother softer texture. I’ve already started wearing skirts here in California, and am sooo excited. With all of the pretty spring floral dresses and strappy sandals I’ll definitely need my legs to look their best. I’ve already unpacked and can’t wait to wear my new Christian Loubuitin esapdrilles I bought on sale last fall.

This exfoliator from Clinique is part of my weekly leg and arm regimen followed by a super hydrating moisturizer. I’m using Clinique’s Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream ($20 for 8.5 oz at Nordstrom). It works on even the roughest spots on my heels and elbows as it increases smoothness and removes dullness. It does have a bit of a strong minty smell and is very refreshing.

If you are adverse to mint scented products, try Philosophy’s exfoliator – Pure Grace Perfumed Hot Salt Exfoliating Scrub ($25 at QVC.com). It has a ultra-fresh smell of just cleaned with soap-and-water! This is a glycerin based formula which contains natural extracts to help moisturize as well as remove dead skin.

Don’t forget to indulge in a pedicure. After all you don’t want to worry about unsightly toes when wearing sandals. There are lots of great colors this spring, including the trendsetting grey color from Chanel, Le Vernis Nail Color in Particulière. A set of clean shiny pedicured toes and great looking legs will not only make you look fabulous, it will make you feel younger too!

Boots Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir

by Diana Ajih on February 26, 2010

Boots Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir
This has been a particularly grey and rainy winter in San Francisco, so I’ve been enjoying more than average soaks in the tub. One of the most luxurious features of our cozy Victorian home is the pedestal soaking tub. It is the perfect length and depth for renewing, relaxing and melting the chills of winter away. To supplement these bath soaks I am always on the look out for a lovely smelling ultra bubbly bath foam. I recently picked up a bottle of Boots Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir ($9.99 at Drugstore.com). I am a fan of Boots Chemist from my days in London, and was thrilled to find their products stateside as well at Target and Drugstore.com. Boots is known for their reasonably priced beauty and grooming products and is the #1 beauty and skincare brand in the UK.

The Botantics Luxurious Bath Elixir is meant to heal and relax tired muscles as well as relieve every day stresses. Perfect if you are sitting at a computer all day, like me! It contains Iceland moss as a main ingredient. The label also mentions that the ingredients are authenticated by Kew Royal Botanic Gardens. The smell of the elixir is a bit heavy and smoky, but sweet…and the liquid is very thick like the consistency of honey. It also generates loads of bubbles, for a nice frothy and sweet smelling bath. You only need about a tablespoon for each bath, a little bit goes a long way. I also love the classic apothecary-style glass bottle, it makes a nice presentation on my bathroom’s etagere shelf.

H&M Launches Certified Organic Skincare Line

H&M is stepping into the skincare world by launching their first ever organic skincare line. Fabulous! So not only can I shop for clothes at H&M, I can snatch up some skin-loving essentials.

Starting in March, the skincare collection will feature body scrubs, body lotion, hand cream, shower gels, and lip balms accompanied by toiletry and makeup bags made from organic cotton. All the skincare products contain organic ingredients like sunflower seed oil, almond seed oil, jojoba, and organic apple juice with combined scents available in lavender and mint or raspberry and melon. They’re certified by Ecocert which is Europe’s leading organization for environmental-friendly, organic products.

They are so cute and oh..they’re under $8. Talk about affordable! :)

“It felt like a natural step, since we’ve worked with organic cotton garments for a few seasons now. There’s also a strong demand from our customers for organics, and I hope they will be as excited as I am about the new products,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design.

More pics after the jump…
