Summer Wardrobe

Summer months indeed spell vacation. And along with the word vacation also comes going to the beach or just simply spending time with family and friends. Of course, you would want to look good whilst you have fun but these days, following a budget is a lot more important.
Fortunately, there are some clever ways through which you can create a summer wardrobe without having to spend too much money. How is this possible? Well, check out some of the tips below to find out.
- Shop during non- summer months. If you’re someone who loves to shop or knows how to make use of money on the right things, you should know that you can really save up money by hitting the malls for summer clothes during non-summer months. It’s basically because most of the best buys and good finds are being sold at a cheaper price on different seasons. Prices are often slashed from 50 to 75%, so it definitely spells big savings on your end.
- Raid your closet – Surely you didn’t grow so much that your former summer wardrobe no longer fits! Skipping going to the
mall just to get a new outfit is possible by simply dropping by a little boutique you call “your closet”. Finding pieces of clothes you wouldn’t dare imagine having is possible. Sometimes, you totally forgot about some of the outfits that you tend to be surprised finding cute and amazing pieces inside your closet.
- Next pit stop – garage sales. These kinds of sales are perfect if you’re looking for summer skirts, shorts and shirts. Garage sales for the summer usually pop up during late spring, just in time for the summer season. When buying summer clothes at garage sales, it is important to take note of the right sizes, quality of clothes and the prices as well.
- The ever reliable eBay and other online stores – Saving up on summer wardrobe is possible by just a click of the mouse. If you’re so lazy to bargain hunt and go shopping, the best thing you can do is to go to websites like eBay and look for clothes perfect for summer. Sites like these won’t surely run out of clothing to sell. Online sample sales sites have some of the best designer bargains. I’m talking about up to 80% off and sometimes more. They require an invitation so, checkout these sample site links for access: Ideeli, Beyond The Rack, Hautelook, Gilt Groupe, Rue la la, and Billion Dollar Babes.
- Make room for alterations – If you really don’t want to spend money on your summer clothes and splurge on your vacation trip instead, the best thing you can do is to alter your clothes. If you’ve gained weight and you don’t mostly fit on your outfit, you can have it sewed and loosened up. Conversely, if you’ve lost weight, you can have your clothes’ size reduced to match up with your current frame.
As a final point, you just need to be creative on this so as not to use up much of your savings on clothes. Remember, it’s not the price that matters. If you’re confident in what you’re wearing then the rest would certainly follow suit.

Guest post from my friends over at College Candy!
Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for
holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.
As a college student, I love using my summer break for traveling. When I’m grown up and living in the real world, I’ll have to pay bill after bill and probably won’t be able to afford to travel for quite a few years. So, I try to find steals and deals and jet-set as much as possible while it’s still within reach. This means roadtripping at a moment’s notice or packing for overseas in only a couple days (yes, it’s been done), and I’ve found it’s nice to have a go-to piece of luggage that I know fits my essentials and can stand up to the rough conditions of coach. Browsing Polyvore, I stumbled upon this gem of a travel piece and knew I had to feature it!

If you really want to protect your hair from being fried by the sun, stay away from heat tools . Look into heat-resistant hairstyles to minimize hair damage and to keep your summer hair looking silky and shiny.
