Bikini season is almost here which is why now is the best time to hit the gym and start working out again. I was on the Shape website and I found a great article that will help you slim down and tone up. I’ve started implementing some of the suggested exercises and I’m already feeling the burn. :) All you need is a flight of stairs which will help you target different muscles in your thighs, legs, and butt. This exercise is also combined with a cardio plan too.

So, check out the workout plan at Shape.com. It’s time to start slimming down so you can look fabulous in your bathing suit.

Blueprint Cleanse Review

Blueprint Cleanse Review

Rid your body of all those bad toxins and impurities by cleansing your body. I’ve never had a body cleanse and it’s about time I had one. My friend has done a couple of cleanses before and her last one was with Blueprint Cleanse. What’s great about this New York based cleanse is that it’s designed for the average person. Blueprint Cleanse is made to finally give your insides a break and restore it back to a normal digestive system.

There are several benefits with Blueprint Cleanse and that includes:

  • Boosted immune system
  • Alleviates allergies
  • Normalized Weight and Blood Pressure
  • Increases Energy
  • Promotes Clear Skin
  • Reverses Signs of Aging
  • Rest the Digestive Organs
  • and many more!!

BluePrint Cleanse is made from fruits and vegetables. It stands out from other cleanses by gathering all the juices and putting it through a hydraulic press. This allows the nutrients to go straight into the bloodstream and feed your cells in as little as 10 minutes! My friend swears by this cleanse and it helped her lose weight too!

There are different level of cleanses to choose from ranging from one to six days of cleansing. You’ll find cleanses for beginners and master cleanses. Again, there’s no severe side effects with this cleanse.

The Renovation Cleanse

“I know what whole foods are, and I’ve seen people buying them. I would too, but I’m too busy to be choosy – my vegetable intake comes in the form of: Ketchup – “tomatoes” and French Fries – “potatoes.” Salad is found in EVERY cheeseburger I eat: it’s that green-ish color in the middle of the burger. Fruit? Easy, it’s the garnish on my cocktail, (usually an orange). I have cut back on red meat… and know I should only buy organic, free range, hand massaged meats and vegetables raised by people who smell like patchouli oil, but where do they even sell that stuff?”

An ideal cleanse for beginners. You often indulge on certain snacks and foods so renovation type is perfect for people who wants to drop a few pounds.

The Foundation Cleanse

“I don’t know what I am! I’m not a vegetarian because I eat fish (but not the kind with mercury). I’m definitely NOT, nor will I ever be, a vegan – (I love a good cheese plate…and sometimes a salami plate). I try to eat a big salad everyday and limit those “bad-starches.” When I do have dessert, I order some sort of fruit based dessert, as opposed to that awesome flourless chocolate cake…that, sometimes I do order…but only because it’s flourless, …and a special occasion. But, that’s not even a big deal, cause’ I’ll just work it off at the Gym the next day.”

This cleanse are for people who maintain an active lifestyle that has tried a variety of diets and has been left disappointed on finding whole, fresh foods or just doesn’t have the time. The Foundation cleanse will trigger your body to cleanse and gently detox while removing excess baggage.

The Excavation Cleanse

“I am extremely conscious of everything I put into my body. I exercise, I don’t make drinking a habit, and I eat organic. Am I a vegan? A raw foodist? I’m not into labels – so, when people ask me that question, I simply reply: ‘I eat what I want, when I want it.” I don’t consider choosing my food wisely, “missing out.” My only rule is: If it doesn’t make me feel healthy and zaps my energy, I don’t eat it. I’m not trying to live forever; I just want to make sure that while I am alive, I feel as good as I possibly can!”

This is the most intensive cleanse that digs down to the cellular level. It provides your body with chlorophyll, restores your alkaline balance while resting your insides.

So, what’s the cost?

It is quite expensive starting at $65/bottle (Ouch!); however I do feel that you should consider at least one good cleanse. It’s very important for your health and to give your body that needed healing internally. Another benefit to point out- It delivers everywhere in the US and parts of Canada!

Stop by BlueprintCleanse.com to learn more and to get started. You’ll be one step away from squeezing into your favorite pair of jeans again.

Why losing weight is so hard and gaining weight is so easy

You just went away for the weekend and you came back to find that you gained five pounds over the course of three days. In your disbelief, you quickly curse the Weight Gods for being so cruel. Sound familiar? This was me last weekend. This inspired me to discuss the seemingly unbalanced equation of weight gain vs. weight loss, the facts that surround the issue and how losing the five pounds feels so much harder than gaining them:

Great Eating Survival Tips for Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

I found a great article from healthcastle.com that give some great eating survival tips for Thanksgiving. Though Thanksgiving is a festive time with several of good eats, one should still be health conscious and be aware of what they’re eating. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t eat the foods you love; but, let’s be honest. Several of you will gain a pound or two during this time of year. For example: Hoping to one place to another, eating until your belly can’t fit anymore food, and of course there are the leftovers. So one has to eat them right? Well…that mentality will leave you feeling unhealthy and with a couple of extra pounds. Yikes!

So, here are some eating tips that will help you survive Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Eating Survival Tips

If you are a guest of a Thanksgiving dinner:

  • Don’t go to the Thanksgiving dinner hungry: we often eat faster and more when we are hungry – therefore eat a wholesome breakfast and lunch on the day to avoid overeating at dinner time.
  • Thanksgiving dinner is not an all-you-can-eat buffet: Fill your plate half with vegetables, one quarter with a lean meat and the rest with a starch of your choice. Eat slowly and stop when you are full.
  • Turkey – go skinless: choose your 4-oz turkey portion skinless to slash away some fat and cholesterol. Save your appetite for the side dishes and desserts.
  • Side Dishes – watch your portion size: go for smaller portions. This way you can sample all the different foods. Moderation is always the key.
  • Make a conscious choice to limit high fat items: high fat food items can be found in fried and creamy dishes as well as cheese-filled casseroles in a traditional Thanksgiving meal . For instance, mashed potatoes are usually made with butter and milk; green bean casseroles are often prepared with cream of mushroom soup, cheese and milk and topped with fried onions; candied yams are loaded with cream, sugar and mashmallows. If you cannot control the ingredients that go in to a dish, simply limit yourself to a smaller helping size. Again moderation is the key.
  • Drink plenty of water: alcohol and coffee can dehydrate your body. Drink calorie-free water to help fill up your stomach and keep you hydrated.

If you are the honorable chef of a Thanksgiving dinner:

  • Substitute high fat ingredients with lower-fat or fat-free ingredients.
  • Leftover Turkey? Instead of turkey sandwiches, use the leftover turkey to make a pot of soup with fresh chunky vegetables.
  • Experiment with new recipes: we did a search on Google and found numerous delicious yet healthy low-fat contemporary Thanksgiving recipes. Experiment!

Sara Happ Lip Scrub Review

Sara Happ Lip Scrub

I must confess…… I get dry, scaly lips from time to time (especially around the winter season) and I’m always trying to find ways to keep my lips soft and smooth. So I wanted to share

some of my secrets to maintaining soft lips. At home I use a toothbrush, vaseline, and sometimes lotion to keep my lips soft. I take the toothbrush and vaseline to massage and exfoliate my lips. No more cracked lips!!! It’s  great to do daily for extreme crached lips or just a couple of times a week to maintain them.
When I’m on the go, I use Sara Happ Lip Scrub ($24). It’s a great lip exfoliator for healthy lips that fits perfectly in my purse. I’m starting to use this more than the toothbrush because it’s a sugar scrub that comes in several great flavors, and it just taste better. :)

My favorites are the vanilla bean and cocoa flavor. It tastes so yummy! It’s also great for a quick touch up. Either solution works great and provides the same results but for convenience, I’m leaning more towards The Lip Scrub.

If you are starting a weight loss program, it may be helpful for you to know that there are some simple steps you can take to make any weight loss program more effective. Here are 7 effective tips, that I have used, for better health and improving weight loss.

Health Tip #1: Realistic Goals
The fastest way to lose motivation is to set unrealistic weight loss goals for yourself before you even start your weight loss program, so ask yourself: What do you want to achieve from this weight loss program? How much weight do you want to lose in a day, a week, or a month? Each small goal you achieve will propel you closer to your final destination. But if you set unrealistic goals, you will be left with frustration and disappointment despite whether you are making great progress in your weight loss.

Health Tip # 2: Preparation is the Key
Now is the time to start a new lifestyle and start getting rid of junk food, those sodas in the refrigerator, and that secret stash of chocolates you leave in your drawer! Make a new list of needed foods and start stocking them in large quantities. I always incorporate vegetables, fruits, healthy snacks, and several other supplements into my daily diet.

Health # 3: Reward system
This is a great way to keep yourself motivated. I create a reward system to stay on my weight loss goals. Treat yourself after obtaining your goal. For instance, buy yourself new makeup, a new CD, or even a new handbag after you reach a certain point in your weight loss efforts.

Health # 4: Healthy Breakfast
This is the most important meal that you should never miss. Skipping breakfast means that you are programming your brain to think that you’re hungry, starved, and deprived. This will only cause you to feel lethargic and when the pressure is too much, you may decide to embark on an eating binge. This is sheer suicide so don’t avoid breakfast!

Health # 5: Exercise
For long lasting effects and to boost the rate of your weight loss and health, this is one important activity you must include into your daily routine. No weight loss challenge can be successful without a good exercise program. Choose a program that lets you burn fat and gives a good cardiovascular exercise at the same time. Bikram Yoga would be a good choice to start with.

Health # 6: Sleep
I make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day. You should too. This helps to keep your bodily system working in perfect order, which is crucial to the success of your weight loss program.

Health # 7:Relaxation
No weight loss program is sufficient without relaxation. You should make relaxation a crucial part of your schedule. Meditation, relaxation and affirmations can help boost your confidence and make the process more enjoyable.

By following these seven simple tips, you can start seeing results in your weight loss. Be consistent and make them part of your lifestyle and success in getting better health.
