Pitaya Bowl Breakfast Recipe to Energize Your Day

Sharing is caring!

pitaya bowl

Smoothies are great for drinking but even better in a bowl. That’s right, smoothie bowls have become the new smoothies! If you would have told me years back to eat a smoothie with a spoon, I would have thought you were nuts. It wasn’t until I was introduced to smoothie bowls on Instagram that totally changed the way I looked at smoothies. I mean how could I not? These smoothie bowls were beautiful and looked so fun to make. So, I’ve joined in on all the fun and never looked back.

I’ve tried all kinds, but today I did my first run with this pitaya bowl and it turned out great. Pitaya also known as dragon fruit, is a beautiful eye-catching fruit with its hot pink color and it’s loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and healthy fats.

To make the pitaya bowl, I added frozen pitaya puree packets,  1 whole banana, almond milk, strawberries, and protein powder.

You can use any protein powder but I prefer Aloha Chocolate Protein Powder because it gives me an energy boost to help start my day. In fact, all Aloha products are pure and full of amazing powerful ingredients. They are organic and plant-based; FREE of GMO’s, gluten, soy, dairy, and anything artificial; and just a satisfying addition to smoothies.

To top the pitaya bowl, I added fresh fruits and granola. See the step-by-step recipe below!

Pitaya Bowl Recipe

Ingredients (for the smoothie)

  • 2 packets of frozen pureed dragon fruit (pitaya)
  • 1 scoop of Aloha protein powder (chocolate or vanilla)
  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 1 whole banana
  • 1/4 cup of strawberries

Toppings

  • granola
  • chopped fresh fruit of choice: blueberries, kiwi, strawberry, banana

Instructions

Step 1. Add all the smoothie ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth (If necessary, add ice to thicken as desired).

Step 2. Pour mixture into a small bowl.

Step 3. Top with blueberries, kiwi, strawberry, banana, and  granola.

You can actually add whatever toppings you want or add to the ones above. I recommend toasted coconut flakes, raspberries, mango, nuts, chia seeds and goji berries.

This pitaya bowl is very creamy and tasty. I like that it’s fruity but I can also taste the chocolate. You can find Aloha Protein Powder at Target stores nationwide. Be sure to also check out their protein bars line. The peanut butter chocolate chip flavor is delicious and the perfect post-workout snack.
