Beauty Detox: The Glowing Green Smoothie

Sharing is caring!

Let’s face it. After the holidays, we all can use a little detox. I know I sure do. My skin looks a little run-down at the moment thanks to all the chocolate, cookies, and cocktails I consumed throughout the month of December. I need to recharge and one way I do so is with this Glowing Green Smoothie by Kimberly Snyder.

Not only does this green smoothie gives us the fuel to lose weight, but also rejuvenates our skin, fights aging, and boost energy. I like to call it the “24 hour cleanse” because in one day, it can give your whole body a cleanse and I feel healthier too.

What I love most about this glowing green smoothie is the tremendous amount of greens (3 cups of dark leafy greens) I end up drinking which is far more than many people get in a week! The greens along with lemon juice help with our body’s natural detoxification process.

Glowing Green Smoothie

Ingredients

Below are the basic ingredients but it’s encouraged to mix and match your greens and fruits. For example, you can try kale, chard, arugula and the like. Just avoid melons as they don’t combine well with the other fruits and veggies.

  • 2 cups of water
  • 1/2 head of organic spinach
  • 1 head of organic romaine lettuce
  • juice of 1/2 organic lemon
  • 3 or 4 sticks of celery
  • 1 organic banana
  • 1 organic pear
  • 1 organic apple
  • bunch of organic cilantro with stems (optional)
  • bunch of organic parsley with stems (optional)

Instructions

Step 1. Fill the blender with two cups of water. Blend the spinach and romaine until smooth.

Step 2. Add the celery, apple, pear, and herbs (if using) and blend again until smooth.

Step 3. Finally add the lemon juice and banana, and do your last blend. Consistency should be smooth and silky.

Step 4. Pour in a cup and drink fresh!

Step 5. Leave the remaining batch in the fridge. Make sure it’s covered. It’ll stay fresh for about two and a half days.

You should start out with 16 ounces and then work your way up to 24 ounces and more. Also, it’s recommended to blend with a Vitamix. If you don’t have one or a high powered blender like Blendtec or Nutri Ninja, you can use your standard blender and follow these tips so you can get somewhat of a smooth and silky consistency.
