I’ve always admired musician Solange Knowles sense of style so, it’s such a thrill to hear that she will be replacing Alexa Chung as the new face of Madewell this fall. She’s already the face for Carol’s Daughter and Rimmel London, but this new collaboration is such an awesome celeb/brand marriage that just makes sense.
The message of Madewell’s fall 2012 campaign, “Mix well. Madewell,” focuses on the brand’s fun fall offerings — jeans and versatile tops — and how customers can mix and match to make inventive outfits of their own. According to the company, “Solange’s great style mix-matched perfectly with Madewell’s aesthetic.” I completely agree!
Solange tells PEOPLE she keeps textures, shapes and silhouettes in mind when playing with her own wardrobe.
“I know that because I wear so much color and print, I might not want to mix so many textures,” she says. “I am also attentive to my body. I love the way some of the oversized, extremely exaggerated, boxy proportions look on some girls … but it just doesn’t work for me.
You can catch her in Madewell ads and on the cover of the brand’s fall 2012 catalog this September but for now, see her “remix her wardrobe” in the behind-the-scenes video above.
