butter LONDON™ and Founding Creative Director Nonie Creme introduces the new Spring/Summer 2012 nail lacquer collection.
Says Creme, “What a season! Pops of neon colour everywhere, tempered by sherbet pastels and cool neutrals. It left us plenty to play with in the nail realm. I’ve mixed a couple of softer opaque shades in cantaloupe and pale pistachio, and followed up with an intense retro turquoise and slightly glittery hot pink. Finally, a quietly marvelous sheer oyster that packs a tiny punch with micro glitter particles for those seeking a new way to wear neutral. The message this season is KNOW who you are, then BE who you are! It’s all about the Individual this season, and the beauty world is yours to rule.”
The collection features five cool shades:
- Bossy Boots- a light pistachio green. A beautiful take on neutral for this season
- Disco Biscuit- Tropical hot pink with an undercurrent of tiny iridescent glitter particles
- Knacked- A sheer, twinkling oyster shade flecked with micro glitter particles.
- Slapper- A truly teal lacquer, bold and very bright.
- Trout Pout- An opaque shade of cantaloupe, pale and retro.

butter LONDON, the cult phenomenon of the nail industry, is a backstage staple once again – creating the nail looks for top shows this season including Victoria Beckham, Calvin Klein, Betsey Johnson, Erin Fetherston and more. Founding Creative Director Nonie Creme is known throughout the industry for her innovative design and technique and custom blended colors that are always Fashion Week highlights. On Monday, September 12th, Nonie created a one-of-a-kind nail look at the Betsey Johnson show.
Creme describes the look:
“Betsey’s girl this season was influenced by vintage Debbie Harry – sexy, full-blown high octane glamour! We did a reverse half moon manicure, with a “stair step” (meaning the false nail sits slightly higher than the nail plate – creating that extra “pop” for the catwalk) holographic glitter tip, in a pointed almond shape. For the glitter tip, we used Diamond Geezer and a holographic shade that was custom mixed for Betsey, and added a diamond stone to the curved base of each tip. Union Jack Black was used on the actual nail – creating the reverse half-moon that almost had a “bruised” effect. Always wanting one more “wow” factor for Betsey, we added a nail piercing with black baby safety pin. Rock and roll, fun, sex, glamour!”

On Sunday, September 11th, Nonie and butter LONDON debuted the butter LONDON Ombre Nails look at Yigal Azrouel’s Cut25 presentation with custom mixes.
Creme describes the ombré nail look:
“We created bespoke mixes for the look at Yigal Azrouel’s Cut25 – Salmon Pink, 80′s Turquoise, and Pastel Pistachio. This is a butter London moment of greatness! Introducing the “ombré” manicure – softly layered, fabric woven-like nails that perfectly accent the woven jewelry here, the ultimate accessory. This is about visual texture; a loose, artistic nail art- I’m all about “fine art for nails” no palm trees or sunsets please!”

in Fall

It’s been six months since celebrity designer Alexander McQueen passed away; however, his tributes continues on. Butter London is paying tribute to the late designer with two new shades from the Fall 2010 collection. The two shades are inspired by McQueen’s fashion-forward style.
“Buzzwords in nail trend for Fall 2010 are texture, depth, and layering, says Creme. “At Alexander Wang we created a textured beige nail that was modern and sophisticated. Then the press went wild when I custom mixed Marrow at Vena Cava. It’s a deep, murky purple that suits any skin tone.”
Of the rest of the collection Creme says, “I’ve had the idea for Bumster for ages. It’s an amazing twist on a neutral colour, and this ochre yellow looks INCREDIBLE on!” And finally, “Victoriana” is a deep, twinkling vintage blue that reminds me of all the wonderful historical interiors in London. I’m having a nostalgic moment!”
From Left to Right:
All Hail McQueen- A gorgeous taupe color polish with holographic gold flecks. In sunlight, the polish sparkles flashes colors of gold, orange, green and a few other hard to identify colors.
Bumster- A buttercup yellow creme shade inspired by McQueen’s low-slung trousers seen in the Fall 1996 fashion show.
Marrow- A dark, flat murky purple color
Victoriana- A textured vintage blue shade that twinkles
The Fall 2010 Nail Polish Collection is available at ButterLondon.com retailed at $14 each.
