anne hathaway hair

Anne Hathaway was all smiles at the red carpet One Day movie premiere. Not only was her makeup undeniably simple yet gorgeous, so was her hair. Frederic Fekkai Celebrity Hairstylist Adir Abergel created a wavy hair look that was soft and romantic.

Want to Recreate Anne Hathaway’s Hair look?

Here’s how!

Step 1. Adir started by applying Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip ($23) to the roots of the wet hair.

Step 2. Next he added Fekkai Coiff Bouffant Lifting and Texturizing Spray Gel ($24) from the middle of her hair to the bottom, which helped hold a slight natural wave.

Step 3. Adir then dried the hair with a Fekkai Large Round Brush ($65) to make sure that the ends of the hair had a nice bend.

Step 4. Once completely dried, he used a 1” curling iron to create waves from the middle of the hair to the ends.

Step 5. After allowing the hair to cool, he added softness to the waves by spraying Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($24) and brushing it through.

Step 6. Lastly, Adir finished the look by applying Fekkai Advanced Brilliant Glossing Sheer Shine Mist ($24) to the ends of the hair, creating beautiful shine and bounce.

All the products by Fekkai are available at Fekkai.com and Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

Lindsay Lohan is one of the most popular and troubled stars in Hollywood. Despite her legal troubles, one can’t admire her gorgeous long hair. I’ll admit, when I look back at her teen years, the transformation is unspeakable. How I miss the old Lindsay! Anyway, Lindsay has always had long beautiful hair even before the extensions. Love her or hate her, the hair stays fab! Surveys say that men are usually attracted to women with longer hair. Some find some truth in it while others believe that growing a longer hair is a matter of a woman’s personal choice. Well, certainly it is a choice. But it is not about the surveys or the beliefs that matter here. Women want longer hair because it makes them look graceful and beautiful—that is enough to aim for a longer hair.

7 Cant-Fail Techniques to Healthy Hair Care

by Diana Ajih on March 2, 2011

in Hair

Dry and dull. Split ends. Frizz. These are the problems people most often complain about with their hair. Although hair types may vary, the problems remain the same. There are tons of hair care products out there all promising great results and some of them actually work. But basically, healthy hair care does not mean regular trips to the salon. For good daily hair care, it’s best to know a few simple hair tips and basic rules.

Tip #1: Wash Regularly

The first and foremost hair care rule is to keep hair and scalp clean with regular washing. Shampoo and condition hair (homemade conditioner is best) once every two or three days only. Any more than that will cause the hair to lose its sheen. This is to allow the hair and scalp time to rejuvenate its natural oil coating that shampooing washes off.

Tip #2: Use Actual Hair Accessories

If you must put up your hair in a knot or ponytail, use only actual hair accessories. Don’t just grab any piece of elastic band available. Try not to have the same severely pulled back bun or ponytail too often. This hairstyle, if not done correctly, puts extreme pressure on the hair strands’ strength and stresses out the scalp.

Tip #3: Use Lukewarm Water

To prevent hair from becoming dry and brittle, refrain from washing with water that’s too hot. Use only lukewarm water. And later, if you must wrap a towel around your head to dry off your hair, don’t keep it on for more than five minutes. The towel will absorb the water, yes, but after awhile, it will also absorb the natural moisture from the hair strands themselves. This causes hair to frizz. Humidity isn’t always the culprit.

Tip #4: Be careful of Hair Coloring

And now, the one thing everyone lies about – hair coloring. Going blonde may mean having more fun but it’s the one hair color that wreaks the most damage. Blonde dyes, unlike regular browns and reds, contain bleaching agents. Each time your hair gets a color treatment, it loses its sheen and becomes more brittle. Sometimes, the blonde look needs to take a rest, for your hair’s sake.

Tip #5: Use a Wide Toothed Comb

Use a wide toothed comb to remove tangles from hair after washing. Brushing is harsh on wet hair which stretches the strands with each pull. This will cause breakages as well as split ends. Already have split ends? A long overdue trip to the salon must be in order. The only recourse is to have a haircut short enough to include the shortest split-ended hair. In extreme cases, a sudden shift to a short bob may not be a suitable hairstyle. Make a series of appointments for a quick trim until all split ends have been nipped.

Tip #6: Avoid Over Drying

Blow-drying hair improperly contributes more to damaging hair rather than beautifying it. Avoid over drying your hair. This will cause the hair to become dull, dry and frizzy. When blow drying, use the warmer settings in the beginning while the hair is still damp. Use your fingers to comb through. As the hair dries, use the cooler settings. Style with your usual hair grooming products and switch to medium heat to set.

Tip #7: Give Hair Freedom

And finally, the one major basic rule of thumb for healthy hair is to give it a taste of freedom every once in a while and let it hang loose to blow in the wind.

Davines No. 5 Mat Pliable Stucco

by Diana Ajih on October 8, 2009

in Hair

Davines This past week I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Jules Chan of Dekko Salon in San Francisco. After having a baby and juggling a busy work schedule I had put off a much needed haircut. My hair had grown out most of its layers and was getting heavier and completely unruly. I have very straight, coarse Asian hair. Jules specializes in styling Asian hair (check out her blog on Asian hair) like mine and had many opinions on the best style and how add layers, body and movement without making the end result look choppy and uneven. It takes a gifted and knowledgeable stylist to create subtle layers and movement within a becoming style that suits my face. The cut turned out magnificent and my hair no longer pulls my head like a ton of bricks. To style, I just blow dry and scrunch with my hands. I also purchased a tube of Davines No. 5 Mat Pliable Stucco (100ml/3.3oz) to maintain my style and to make it more piece-y and textured. Jules cut a shoulder length layered style with a side swish of bangs. I’ve been using the Pliable Stucco for a few days now. I have to say I love how light it is compared to other pomades and moulding muds I’ve used in the past. It doesn’t weigh my hair down and it doesn’t have a strong or overpowering odor. It also keeps my hair put all day. I just apply a bit of stucco and rub it onto my palms. Then I take small gatherings of hair in my hands and also twist individual strands in the front and on my bangs. The tube, which I purchased for $27 will last me for months since I only use a very small dollop – about the size of a dime for my entire head of hair. It is also matte and not at all greasy which I love. I love this product so much that I’ll be trying other Davines products as well.
