Voted Tatler magazine’s international spa of the year for 2009, Cowshed is luxurious skincare line originating the eponymous spa at Babington House located in Somerset just outside London. Don’t forget your Hunter wellies and Barbour vest which are the requisite uniform here.
The original spa was launched in 1998 and named after the building’s former occupants. Founded in the philosophy of premium 100% natural essential oils all ingredients are organic, wild-crafted and fair trade botanicals with minimal use of preservatives. The products do NOT contain any parabens, petrochemicals, sulphates or artificial dyes or fragrances. There are no animal products in the ingredients except for organic beeswax and wildflower honey. Every product’s ingredients are sourced from the original walled garden at the original Cowshed spa in Somerset. We also love the cheeky product names like “Moody Cow” and “Knackered Cow”.
Our favorite picks from the Cowshed (it was hard to pick only a few!) collection include: Cowshed Wild Cow Evening Body Wash. The Wild Cow Evening wash is made with a refreshing re-hydrating mix of lavender and rose infusions and pure essential oil of lavender made from herbs grown in the walled garden at Babington House. Other faves include “Moody Cow”- Balancing Bath and Shower Gel as well as “Udderly Gorgeous” Cooling Leg and Foot Treatment. Lastly, you’ll want to indulge in the Knackered Cow Relaxing Soap Bar which is triple milled to a smooth luxurious texture leaving skin soft and gently scented with the delectable Knackered Cow fragrance.

I began using Arcona skincare products to supplement my bi-weekly facials at International Orange Spa in San Francisco. Since then I’ve had a baby and was on hiatus from my trips to the spa. Am now back with my facials and still love my Arcona products.
My favorite must have product from Arcona are the Triad pads. These little beauties saved my skin during my first days as a new mom not to mention while traveling and on flights where I was in desperate need of a quick cleansing and moisturizing. The Arcona cranberry toner triad pads cleanse, tone and hydrate as well as infusing your skin
with a healthy dose of antioxidants. I love the way my skin feels fresh and clean, but not too dry afterwards. I keep a jar in my desk, car glove compartment and my bathroom shelf is always fully stocked for quick cleansing when I am too exhausted for my nightly cleansing/toning/moisturizing ritual. Also in my desk drawer you’ll find a bottle of Arcona Mineral Magic, they’re a lifesaver when air conditioning wreaks havoc on my skin. It’s an anytime hydrating spritz that moisturizes, remineralizes, protects and firms skin. I don’t leave home without it.

I’ve always been a fan of Olay products and for the past month, I’ve been testing out Olay Professional Pro-X Skincare Kit. Pro-X skincare line was created to protect, treat and transform your skin back to its youth in a three step regimen.
Olay Professional Pro-X Anti-Aging Starter Kit includes:
- Eye Restoration Complex
- Wrinkle Smoothing Cream
- Age Repair Lotion w/ SPF 30
Here are some benefits of the skincare kit- It features Caffeine, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E. It tackles the signs of aging, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves the look of puffiness and dark circles, helps even skin tone and texture, and helps against sunburn. It’s also great for all skin types and is fragrance free.
My review: Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been using this product for a month now and to be honest, I really didn’t notice any significant difference. I didn’t have any use for the eye cream since my eyes doesn’t suffer from dark circles or fine lines. I have do have a little puffiness but the eye cream didn’t have a great effect on it. The Wrinkle Smoothing Cream didn’t show a dramatic difference for my fine lines. It also didn’t absorb well into my skin. This one was the most disappointing.
Lastly is the Age Repair Lotion. I used it during the day since it contained an SPF 30 sun protection. I like how it moisturized my face leaving it soft and smooth. It was light on my face which was fabulous. I am very happy with the results. So I guess you can say that the Age Repair Lotion was my favorite of all three.
Overall, only one of the three products is to my liking; however, everyone skin is different and some products reacts differently to others skin. For a price around $60, I think it’s a good alternative to a pricier skincare product.

Finding skincare products that can deliver beautiful, and healthy skin on the face and body can be hard to find if you’re on a tight budget. I’ve come across several facial scrubs that cost an arm and a leg but it deliver great results which I expect since I’m pouring out twice as much than I would like to pay. So what do I consider great results? Well.. a skincare facial scrub that can deep cleanse my pores and can successfully remove dead skin cells to reveal smooth and soft skin. Is it possible to find a facial or body scrub that can give me smooth and healthy skin on a much smaller budget? Yes, it’s possible with St. Ives Apricot Scrub. If you’re on a budget this is your best bet because it works just as well as the more expensive skincare products I’ve come across.
St. Ives Apricot Scrub is an invigorating scrub and is the secret to revealing beautiful and healthy skin on the face and body. It’s a natural exfoliant that deep cleans the pores and gently removes dull skin creating a smoother and softer appearance. Here are other great skin features on the product:

This has been one of my secrets for smooth skin. I’ve used St. Ives for years and is a smart buy for a great price. It works very well on people suffering with acne/oily skin. In fact they have a scrub specifically for acne sufferers. It’s good to use on any skin type and a good alternative to microdermabrasion or high end products if price is an issue. It might not be as effective but it’s a good start. Also, be well advised before using any scrub especially if you have sensitive skin.
Don’t overuse!!!! Use in moderation such as every 1 to 2 weeks. Now, start showing that healthy skin on the face and body with St. Ives Apricot Scrub. Available at your local drugstore.
