When it comes to natural, fresh, pretty spring and summer makeup looks, you’d probably assume that glitter has no business creepin’ on the beauty scene. After all, it depends on how you use it, but typically you break out the glitter when you’re ready to incorporate a little Ke$ha flavor — it’s bold, it’s edgy, and definitely a little more on the “glam” side than “natural.” However, this season’s subtle glittery products (yes, there is such a thing!) are all about highlighting your features in a way that’s pretty, fun, and festive without going overboard for a daytime look. By sticking to strategic placement and glitzing one micro-feature at a time (brow bones, inner corners of the eye, or just the tops of cheek bones, for example), you can incorporate glitter in a way that simply accentuates features in a way that’s just a step up from subtle, and utilizes the spring sunshine to add a dash of dazzle to your barely-there day makeup!

Guest post from my friends at The Find!

I’d actually love to put Urban Decay’s“8-year-old” claim to the test if I didn’t think it would be a waste of a perfectly good pair of lashes, but regardless, I do agree that applying lashes is much easier than most timid beauty queens seem to think. In fact, I thought the same thing about fake lash application once upon a time — too complicated, too messy, too easy to mess up –
but I quickly mastered the craft (with only one drugstore pair casualty) and now I’m completely addicted to fake lashes! While I
blame Sephora’s huge Lash Bar for converting me to the fringe side, I’m convinced that Urban Decay’s new Urban Lash line would have done the trick if I wasn’t already obsessed by now!

Boasting an impressive array of over 18 different lashes, conveniently categorized by length, style, difficulty and drama factor (Color, Drama, Easy, Natural), it’s hard to find a pair of lashes that doesn’t suit your style, or doesn’t make you tempted to try them on! Plus, while the lashes look a bit intimidating in the package, the Urban Decay site provides a handy photo with each pair on a model, so you can see the actual effect on an actual pair of eyes. Trust me, I’ve spent quite some time studying each pair, and after some careful consideration, I can’t wait to try out Vamp, which the site describes as long spiky lashes w/ shorter criss-cross hairs. If you’re already a lash queen, or are open to taking these for a test run, be sure to check out Urban Lash for yourself!

Urban Decay Limited Edition Eyeshadow Vegan Palette

by Diana Ajih on July 15, 2010

in Fall

I’m always thrilled to hear more beauty brands going vegan. Urban Decay‘s new limited edition eyeshadow palette for fall is made from all vegan products. The Vegan palette has an array of warm, earthy colors. It features six eyeshadow colors, an eyeliner, and a miniature sized eyeshadow primer. By the way, I think Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow primer potion is one of the best primers out there.

I think my favorite part about this palette is its packaging. It’s so cute! I love the designs and colors on the palette and its very functional.

Eyeshadow shades in:

  • Minx is shimmering aqua green with flecks of teal glitter.
  • Urb is a softly shimmered olive green with a golden sheen.
  • Gunmetal is a blue-toned gray-black with silver sheen. Lots of pigment!
  • Twice Baked is a satin dark chocolate brown.
  • Smog is a shimmering bronze with a copper-gold sheen.
  • Half Baked is a lightened copper with a near metallic finish.

Also seen in the vegan palette is a miniature 24/7 liner in true black and Sin Eyeshadow Primer potion (a shimmery, burnt champagne base).

The Urban Decay Vegan Palette is available at Sephora.com, UrbanDecay.com as well as Sephora stores and Urban Decay counters. Retails for $34.
