The 500 Calorie Diet also known as the HCG Diet is the new diet craze that everyone can’t stop talking about. I have a friend that is overweight and is considering this diet. I’ve heard and read of it so my main concern is its safety because come on…restricting you diet to only 500 calories a day sounds crazy! This new diet claims to help people lose up to 2 pounds a day. It’s carried
out for at least 26 days and can last up to 43 days.
The chemical compound, hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin, is the hormone found in women during their pregnancy that plays a role in the weight loss. This substance is produced initially by the developing embryo and later produced by a layer of tissue found in the placenta during the first trimester of the pregnancy to provide nourishment to the growing fetus.
