Back in October, I reported that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are starting another venture called Olsenboye, a teen clothing line for JC Penney. According to WWD, Steve Madden Ltd has signed on to create a footwear and accessories collection for the Olsenboye line which will launch November 6th. The Olsenboye footwear line will feature colorful suede flats and canvas sneakers both very casual. The accessories line will include handbags just like this slouched shape, plaid print and acid wash bag above. The collection will soon be available this holiday season at JC Penney and on jcp.com.

NARS celebrates 15 years of beauty excellence in a beauty book entitled “15×15″. The book will feature portraits of 15 famous faces such as Marc Jacobs, Naomi Campbell, Daphne Guinness, and Amber Valleta in classic Nars products. Francois Nars did both the makeup and the photography for the book himself. The man has many talents!
“When you do something for 15 years, you want to do something fun but still a nice piece of work. Plus, the Nars brand people wanted me to do something to remind people I’m still here,” Nars told WWD.
My favorite portrait would have to be the Richard Avedon inspired shoot of Marc Jacobs. He’s all glammed up in false eyelashes, bright red lipstick, cartoonic tattoo drawings, and Nars tomato-red shade polish in Dovima. The nail polish was named for a sixties-era supermodel who was a favorite of Avedon. “It is really an homage to Avedon, who I’ve admired for years,” said Nars.
The book “15×15″ is set to launch in mid November for 30 days at 15×15project.com.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have a new business project at hand. They’ve been in the business world since they were babies and like true business women they continue to expand on their business empire. According to WWD, the Olsen twins are launching a new juniors line for JC Penney called Olsenboye. I wonder how they came up with the name?
They will make a limited debut online and in 50 locations on November 6th; however, the collection will be available at 600 stores in February 2010. The line will retail from $20 to $50 from sizes 0-15.
“Olsenboye is an extension of the Dualstar brand and we feel this collaboration complements and strengthens our business portfolio, delivering trend-based fashion at affordable prices” said, Ashley.
Social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook will play a large part in their marketing tactics.
Today, an Olsenboye truck will be at Union Square selling merch, handing out balloons and cupcakes. Sweet! The truck will also make a stop at Herald Square tomorrow, and Square Park on Thursday.

I just found some shocking and sad news today. According to WWD, the cosmetic giant Estee Lauder is closing down the Prescriptives brand. The 30-year old beauty brand will say its final goodbye Jan. 31, 2010.
“We believe that the difficult decision relating to Prescriptives will allow us to redirect our resources to key strategic imperatives where we see the highest growth potential,” said Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Estée Lauder Companies.
I love Prescriptives! I can’t believe it’s going away. I will miss their blended makeup formulas. Time to start stocking up on your favorite Prescriptives products!
How do you feel about Prescriptives closing down?
