Despite my adventurous taste in eye makeup (shadows in every color of the rainbow, glitter liner, you name it), I’ll admit that I’m definitely more of a fraidy-cat when it comes to cheek color. My collection of blush actually consists of mostly highlighters and luminizers only — shimmery golds and pearlescent pinks and maybe the occasional sheer bronzer. I’m not particularly opposed to bolder cheek tints — in fact, I am a little curious — I just need a little help easing into the look. Now, bright poppy blush may not seem like “baby steps” at all, but before you go running for the hills (and take me with you), these striking coral shades are actually way more tame on the skin. Because of their ultra-lightweight formulas — either in cream, gel, or stain form — they may pack a punch in their packaging but really apply gorgeously sheer to leave a pretty light-reflective glow that’s bold and vibrant without looking clownish. Even though they aren’t opaque, it’s still best to keep the rest of your makeup on the light side and let your pretty spring cheeks stand out with some of the best blushes!

My fave is Tarte Cosmetics Natural Cheek Stain. Can’t get enough of this stuff!
