Recipe: Caprese Salad Pizza

 The start of the year has been a blast for me, but in the next couple of months it will be even more epic because I’m traveling to Europe. I’ve been waiting forever for this European trip and the more I think about it, the more excited I get. I even started a list of things I want to do and see and it’s crazy long. One of my stops will be in Italy, a country with a blend of great art, delicious food and wine, and human warmth.  I’ve been an Italian food lover since I was a teenager and soon I’ll be able to taste authentic Italian cuisine in Italy. So cool!

Lately, everything is reminding me of my upcoming trip like this Caprese Salad Pizza recipe from Kiran Tarun. I love making pizza at home and this dish looks so simple and delicious. There’s nothing better than fresh hand-made pizza with top quality ingredients!

Ingredients:

Topping

  • 2/3 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 heirloom tomatoes, sliced

Pizza Crust

  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp rapid rise dried yeast
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2/3 cup warm water

Basil oil

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
