As you all know, I typically write about beauty products, the latest fashion trends, and lifestyle tips, but I decided to switch things up today and write about something that has played a significant role in my life and made me a better person. The topic I’m talking about is Education.
Education has always been close to my heart because my teachers has helped mold me into the person that I am today. I’ve learned useful life lessons from my teachers, but one particular teacher has been the most influential in shaping my character.
The teacher who inspired me was my AP History teacher for sophomore year in high school. Before taking his class, I always saw history as a boring subject, but a friend of my convinced me to take it because he was the kind of teacher you wish you had. He was sharp, funny, and simply had a way with words. Plus I knew taking AP courses would look good for college so I signed up.
This class was a real challenge for me. He forced us to read news sources on our own time and not just from the textbook. The weekly essay assignments were intense too. I never wrote so much in my life. My writing was average before taking his class and I didn’t think I could keep up, but he had this unexplained faith in me that really galvanized me as a student. At that point, I wanted to do better because he knew I could be better. He challenged me every day in that classroom and what he taught stuck with me through college and beyond.
I’ve gone through many challenges in my life and because of him, I’ve never been afraid to take them on.
Now, I ask you: Who is that one teacher who just really, truly influenced you? How do you view our current education system?
