New York Fashion Week Spring 2011: Alexander Wang

Sharing is caring!

Designer: Alexander Wang

Inspiration: Construction theme, lightness

Top Trends: bandage jumpsuits, duck tape accents, semi-transparent knits, paint splatters, canvas carpenter jackets and pants, all-white looks, motorcycle jackets

My Thoughts: This collection is completely different from fall. Instead of dark shades, he lightened up with the focus on white with few pops of apricot and mint green. His collection was far from usual and I can’t say that I love it. I will say that it’s a different direction and I applaud him for taking a risk.

Makeup: His inspiration is from punk skater girls. “It’s all about a downtown, urban and artsy feel, ” said Kendal. Brows were covered with concealer to make it appear bleached. The face was well moisturized and glowing.

Hair: 80’s punk was the hair theme. Hair was knotted up into what looks like dreadlocks with white clay dipped into the hair resembling paint.
