New York Fashion Week Spring 2011: Cynthia Rowley

September 12, 2010

Designer: Cynthia Rowley

Inspiration: A flirty collection with a playful use of circles.

Top Trends: graphic polka dot cut outs, boyish tops and trousers, cabachon buttons on dresses, skirts, and pants, tailored sheath dresses, citrus colors against neutral colors in solid and sheer pieces, large glossy barettes

My Thoughts: The collection was very cohesive and I like how she plays with circles on the skirts and dresses.  Flirty plus retro rocks!

Backstage Beauty

Makeup: Val Garland for MAC Cosmetics

Hair: Bok-hee for the Antonio Prieto Salon; Aura Friedman for Wella

Top Looks

Makeup: Cynthia’s aim was “Carnaby Street, Mary Quant, and Twiggy”  and Garland for MAC, took that response and gave it a modern twist using heavy mascara on the bottom lashes and a bold lip.

Hair: Bok-Hee and the Antonio Prieto Salon styling team were on hand backstage creating shiny, sleek and tight, structured updos that incorporated iridescent metallic hair extensions hand-painted by Aura Friedman and the Wella Professionals color team.  The bright clips styled into the updo gave the final hair look a modern street style with a hint of polished glam.
