New York Fashion Week Spring 2011: Peter Som

Sharing is caring!

Designer: Peter Som

Inspiration: Just think of Miami Beach, Peggy Guggenheim, and pop art colors.

Top Trends: rainbow graphic prints, tweed cardigans, floral brocades in candy colors, ruffle embroidery, simple tees and dresses in snakeskin-style, thigh-grazing shorts, sky-high platforms

My Thoughts: I love the mood in this collection. It’s very fun, quirky, and positive. “I was thinking about bringing joy to clothing, ” Peter said. “To me, that’s what fashion is all about.” I love how he mix prints with an array of bright colors and textures.

Top Looks

Makeup: Peter wanted to continue to play with colors so Tom Pecheux used bright yellow as the eyeliner color of choice over the eyelids with no use of mascara. It’s kinda reminiscent of the 60’s trend.

Hair: Laurent Philippon of Bumble & Bumble gave the models long, tousled layers.

Nails: Neutral color nails was the focal point.
