New York Fashion Week Spring 2011: Ports 1961

September 12, 2010

Designer: Ports 1961 by Fiona Cibani

Inspiration: The magic allure of the desert.

Top Trends: One shoulder tops and dresses in vibrant jewel tones, nude colored heels, liquid silk ensembles, strappy heels, lace up flats, sandy gold, draped silhouettes, crystal embellishments

My Thoughts: Fiona Cibani’s Spring 2011 collection was a mirage of harmonic contrasts. The clothes gives off a hint of sheen and a light look of sand. I love the lightweight looks as well as the fluid shapes of the tailored and asymmetrical pieces.

Backstage Beauty

Makeup: Val Garland for M.A.C

Hair: Orlando Pita for T3

Top Looks

Makeup: To play off the gold and sand colors seen in the collection, MAC makeup team smoothed a beautiful metallic color across the eyes from gray, burnt orange, and browns with a neutral lip.

Hair: The look was very romantic, 70s-inspired hair. The team created “desert glam” for the hair with big, bouncy curls.
