NYFW Fall 2011: Day 2 Designers
Hey All! Here’s a peek at some of my favorite designers from Day 2 at New York Fashion Week!
Peter Som
DESIGNER: Peter Som
INSPIRATION: “It was truly about things my friends wanted to wear, ” Peter Som explained of his Fall 2011 collection. “Everyday but heightened and with a touch of quirk.”
TOP LOOKS: long sleeve sequin jersey dresses, colorful prints, sequin pants, tuft of fur on jacket sleeves and on dress hems, dark and neutral wool tailoring
TOP COLORS: black, orange, graphic prints, metallic, navy, gray
ACCESSORIES: bright, two-toned Charlotte Olympia shoes, kitten heels
MY THOUGHTS: I love the mix of bright oranges with dark palettes. The tuft of fur is an interesting look and the finale blue-sequin dress was truly a gem. Overall this collection speaks sophistication.
Rag & Bone
DESIGNERS: David Neville and Marcus Wainwright
INSPIRATION: “It started with Inuit people — the indigenous people of the Arctic circle — and on the other side of it, there was a French skiier called Jean-Claude Killy — so ’70s ski — and it just went from there.”
TOP LOOKS: 70’s ski, varsity jackets, shearling coats, striped thigh-high tights, leather trim, fur sleeves, color-blocked pieces
TOP COLORS: icy white, gray, brown, rusty orange, cobalt blue
ACCESSORIES: brown leather boots with canvas detailing,
MY THOUGHTS: Very edgy, sporty looks. There’s shearling everywhere and I love that!
Cynthia Rowley
DESIGNER: Cynthia Rowley
INSPIRATION: Preppy to her grandmother’s eccentric style
TOP LOOKS: geometric patters with feminine fabrics, sequin jackets, velvet suits, asian-inspired prints, shiny and shimmery sweaters, intarsia knitted dresses, romper like “waling dress”
TOP COLORS: mustard yellow, black, beige, green, emerald, deep blue

MY THOUGHTS: I’ve always been a fan of geometric patterns so that’s why I loved this collection from the start. Love the color palettes especially the mustard yellow. The collection is very preppy but still something for every personality.
