Here’s a peek of my favorite designers from Day 4 at Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week.


DESIGNER: Donna Karan

INSPIRATION: Modernists in New York City

TOP LOOKS: colorblocked sweaters and dresses, menswear-inspired pieces, wide leg trousers, skinny pencil skirts, coats embellished with leather sleeve accents, fur

TOP COLORS: red pink, orange, black, neutrals, gray, navy

ACCESSORIES: Mary-janes, ladylike bags adorned with tassels, tri color satchels

MY THOUGHTS: Modern day street-style. Looks perfect for any city girl!


DESIGNER: Thakoon Panichgul

INSPIRATION: Fashions from Versailles and tribal prints from Africa

TOP LOOKS: African paisley print, red and blue plaid tops, skirts and dresses, puffer jackets, asymmetrical dresses, peplum

TOP COLORS: red, blue, yellow, black, prints

ACCESSORIES: pointy toe boots

MY THOUGHTS: Taking cultural with a sporty twist. What a refreshing collection.


DESIGNER: Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi

INSPIRATION: Constructed menswear touched with feminine elements

TOP LOOKS: geometric floral motifs, tulip skirts, long slit skirts, high collars, crystal embellishments on sheer shirts

TOP COLORS: navy, gray, purple, orange, bright color prints

ACCESSORIES: orange and gray flats, ankle booties

MY THOUGHTS: A collection with undeniable sophistication.

Diane von Furstenberg

DESIGNER: Diane von Furstenberg and Yvan Mispelaere

INSPIRATION: “American Legends”; Explorations of “rodeo, editor in chief, and society lady.”

TOP LOOKS: mixed prints, liquid sequins gowns, print pajama suits, leather cropped jackets, wrap dresses, 70’s inspired dresses

TOP COLORS: red, black, gold, teal, purple, blue, mauve

ACCESSORIES: knee-high boots, western hats, fringe clutches, sunglasses

MY THOUGHTS: A collection only for the strong and confident.
