NYFW: Rachel Roy Fall 2010 Collection

February 15, 2010

Designer: Rachel Roy

Looks: The designer was inspired by Ancient Egypt fashion and the turn of the 20th century. The pieces featured metallics such as gold and silver, crochet-style dress and jacket, Moroccan military gear, black sheath drenched in gold, navy blue wool, brick color red, and a high-shine gold skirt worn with gold lace tank.

“Drawing inspiration from both the ancient and modern worlds, fall 2010 juxtaposes wispy bias-cut dresses against luxurious coats in reference to the old-world glamour, ” said Roy

Makeup: Wendy Rowe for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics. The look is Egyptian goddess meets Cleopatra that’s powerful, bold, and fearless. To give the models eyes some pop, Wendy created a deep smokey eye with a hint of aqua to mimmick the shades of a feather peacock.  Nude lips to finish.

Hair: Andre Rodman for Frederic Fekkai. Andre channeled Cleopatra’s straight bob look and to add a modern touch, he swept the hair back and gave the strands some height at the crown of the head for added definition.

My thoughts: I love Rachel Roy because her collection embodies a woman’s strength and confidence which I again see in this collection. Very creative! I think the looks were well balanced and her play with gold and metallics was surely an attention-getter.
