NYFW Spring 2012: Day 2 Designers
Here’s a look at day 2 designers from New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 shows!
DESIGNER: Peter Som
INSPIRATION: I really wanted to convey the strength and energy of downtown in the prints, the tweeds, all the things that I love.
TOP TRENDS: 60’s silhouettes, big florals, retro bathing suits, bright colorblocking hues
TOP COLORS: blues, yellow, pink, teal
ACCESSORIES: Charlotte Olympia-style platforms, floral necklaces
MY THOUGHTS: Love the bright hues and retro-style silhouettes! I’m so glad to see colorblocking back again for spring!
DESIGNER: Rebecca Taylor
INSPIRATION: Rebecca picked up ideas for this season piecemeal, from favorite artworks in the Louvre to items in her interns’ wardrobes.
TOP TRENDS: geometric patterns, floral print, sheer dresses, assymetrical skirts, metallic
TOP COLORS: neutrals, blues, canary yellow, burnt orange, floral
ACCESSORIES: metallic accessories, long pearl necklaces
MY THOUGHTS: A flirty collection of cool designs with a hint of sparkle.

INSPIRATION: “Artist David Altmejd’s towering, figurative sculptures, which incorporate a madcap mix of textures. That, and a nerdy childhood fascination with crystals and rock formations” (Vogue.com)
TOP TRENDS: leather skirt with pleated chiffon strips, monochromatic, graphic halter dresses, disco style jumpsuits, cutout leather pants
TOP COLORS: Black, cobalt blue, white, yellow
ACCESSORIES: colored flatforms, black leather wristlets
MY THOUGHTS: This season she goes less dark for a lighter lineup of pieces. The collection still carries her artistic edge which I love.

INSPIRATION: “The optical exuberance of gold, flash mobs of floral and animated shapes, and the thrill of adornment in forced perspectives”
TOP TRENDS: geometric shapes, metallic prints, sporty chic, girly silhouettes, eye catching prints, mix-match prints

ACCESSORIES: chunky heeled shoes
MY THOUGHTS: I love the subtle gold details.A couple of the looks would be perfect to rock at a cocktail party.

INSPIRATION: Clean and couture — but with some very quirky elements.
TOP TRENDS: flirty feathers, peplum, chiffon drsses, feminine florals, windbreakers, swarovski elements on colors
TOP COLORS: bubble gum pink, neon yellow, floral prints, electric blue, muted hues
ACCESSORIES: shoulder bags, clutches, strappy heals, metal jewelry
MY THOUGHTS: The collection is the perfect mix of masculine and girlie looks with a slight modern edge. I love how he played on the spring color palette for his collection.

INSPIRATION: Burning Man and seventies surf culture, along with all the tailoring you might expect from us.

ACCESSORIES: pilot style glasses, knapsacks, sandals
MY THOUGHTS: I love the california vibe and the lightweight layers. The beachy theme in this collection looks cool and relaxed.
