Tatcha’s geisha-inspired skincare line reintroduces skincare regimens from ancient times. Japan’s geisha girls always had magnificent, flawless skin that’s been perfected through centuries of timeless rituals. Tatcha Founder, Victoria Tsai discovered this 200 year old skincare routine during her stint in Japan, working with modern day geishas during research for her new product. She learned that the core of geisha skincare is very similar to the Japanese diet with a strong focus on red algae, rice bran, and green tea. This discovery led to a skin care collection which included a makeup-removing oil, skin-polishing cleanser, serum, and moisturizer.
After reading the history behind the line, I was excited to try it with hopes of seeing similar results!
I received a Tatcha Sampler Set, which included the Pure Cleansing Oil, Polished Rice Enzyme Powder (in Gentle, Classic and Deep formulas), Radiant Deep Brightening Serum, Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream, and Petal Fresh Japanese Beauty Papers. The Tatcha skincare ritual basically has 4 steps that you follow morning and evening- cleanse, polish, brighten and moisture.
As soon as I received the product line, it became my regular skincare regimen for the next few weeks. The first step is the Pure Cleansing Oil which is made with a blend of camelia and rice bran oils. I’ve never used a cleansing oil to remove makeup before and I must admit I was a bit skeptical with this product at first because I feared it would leave my face feeling greasy or oily. I was totally wrong! I was amazed at how well it left my face feeling clean.
The Rice Enzyme Powder is the next step in the regimen-Polish. You add water to the powder and it makes a paste. You simply massage the paste for at least 20 seconds then rinse. I immediately noticed the difference on my newly polished skin. Very soft and smooth skin! I also like that it has calming properties to help with inflammation.
The next step is the Radiant Brightening Serum. Brightening skincare at its finest. The serum hydrates the skin while it evens out your skin-tone. It’s non-greasy which I like, and I noticed some dark spots starting to fade after a week and a half.
The last step is in the regimen is the Moisture Rich Silk Cream. It’s a powerful hydrator but it’s weightless and doesn’t leave you skin greasy. So, I use it morning and night. I also received Petal Fresh Beauty Papers in my sample kit. These skin-blotting sheets are made with real gold and are designed to remove excess oil without disturbing your makeup. I carry a pack in my purse because they do come in handy throughout the day.
Overall, this luxurious natural skin care line is one I would recommend to all my friends, family members, and of course my lovely readers.
