how to survive a long flight

This post is all about long flight essentials for your carry-on.

Wow, I can’t believe it’s June already! Time sure has flown by but I’m so looking forward to the next few months because I have so many trips lined up. I’ve already started some of the prep work for my upcoming summer travels like airfare for my London and Paris trip, reserving hotels and arranging excursions; but honestly, those things are just the easy part. Trying to survive a long 10-11 hour flight can be one of the most stressful aspects of any trip. With flight prices increasing and seats shrinking, I’ve never enjoyed a long haul flight. Most of the time, I’m trying to survive one.

Long Flight Essentials

I’ve rounded up 7 long flight essentials for your carry-on when packing for an international flight. From earphones to a change of clothes (comfort is a must of course), add these carry-on essentials for long flights to your packing list if you’re heading to a far-off destination this year.

1. Earphones

Bring a pair of noise-cancelling earphones for watching movies or listening to music. An added benefit is to drown out your noisy plane neighbors. Earplugs like this one by Mack’s is another alternative for when you don’t want to wear headphones (i.e. when you’re getting ready to go to sleep).

2. Snacks

Eating healthy while traveling is no easy task. The food on the flight is not always the healthiest and its overpriced. Pack a few travel-size snacks in your carry-on instead.

3. Water

Staying hydrated is a necessity when traveling, especially on a long flight. Bring along a reusable water bottle like this one from Bobble. After you go through security, fill it up in the terminal.

4. Change of Clothes

Bring a comfortable outfit to change into during the flight. This is also a smart idea in the event the airline loses your luggage. Some clothing ideas could be leggings, cardigan, sweater and a maxi dress. Pack warm socks too just in case it gets cold.

5. Sleep Mask

Bring one so you can drown out the light and sound when resting. Make sure to grab one with a luxurious feel to ensure you travel in style.

6. Hand Sanitizer

Do you know how filthy a plane is? I always pack a bottle to keep my hands and area clean of germs.

7. Toiletries

Bringing my favorite toiletries so I can brush my hair and teeth and moisturize my skin, can make all the difference when it’s time to land. Feminine care products are super important for me to have when flying as well. When you’ve been on a plane for about 11 hours, it can leave you feeling less than fresh. To tackle this, I pack a few Summer’s Eve® feminine cleansing cloths.
