Can you believe it? 2018 is just around the corner. A new year means new trends. Pantone, the worldwide standard for color communication and inspiration, has announced the go-to shade for the new year. The trend forecasters have declared “Ultra Violet” as 2018’s Color of The Year.
Ultra Violet is described as:
A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.
Ultra Violet is also often associated with spirituality, the mysteries of the cosmos and the intrigue of what lies ahead. Here’s a quote from Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute:
We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.
Purple is one of my favorite colors and Ultra Violet is a shade of purple I look forward to incorporating into my outfits. I’m also curious to see how it will be used in the beauty, fashion, and interior design industries in 2018. If you love the mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet, then keep scrolling as you’ll see several ways to style Pantone 2018 Color of the Year.
