Pantone has announced Marsala as 2015’s color of the year. Initially I was shocked, because I was hoping for a blue shade, but I’m sorta into this color now. I love the way this color looks against blues and other jewel tones, and it provides a captivating pop of color against soft neutral tones.
Marsala is described as:
“A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies, and souls.”
So why was Marsala chosen as the 2015’s color of the year? Here’s what Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute had to say:
“Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.”
I have to agree. Marsala is a seductive yet stylish hue that’s universally appealing and can translate easily into fashion, makeup, home, and interiors. I really like the versatility of this color especially in makeup. I think it flatters most skin tones and it’s just a great “go-to” color in beauty overall.
