Fred Perry and Amy Winehouse Team Up for Fashion Collection

It seems that Amy Winehouse is jumping into the fashion world. Should I see this as a good thing? I dont know…

Amy Winehouse and Fred Perry are teaming up to create a collection for the brand. It is contracted to go for four seasons and will hit stores in October.

According to WWD,

In a palette of mostly black and pink, the 17-piece collection includes a girlish twinset; slim, thigh-skimming pencil skirts; capri pants, a mini bowling dress, and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts (“collars are most definitely raised,” the press release effused).

Prices will range from $32 to $150.

Very interesting.

Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Has Committed Suicide

I just found out this morning that Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen has committed suicide at the age 40. This is truly sad news. Today is the official start of New York Fashion Week and to hear this tragic news…. it’s just so shocking.  His presentation was scheduled for today at MAC & Milk from 3pm-5pm.

I still can’t believe he’s gone. He will be missed.

R.I.P.

Earlier from the BBC

The fashion designer Alexander McQueen has died, his company has said.

His office confirmed to the BBC that Mr McQueen, 40, was found dead at his London home this morning.

Paramedics called to his home pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

A statement said his family were “devastated” at the “tragic news”, and added that they shared “a sense of shock and grief”.

A former British Designer of the Year winner, Mr McQueen started his career as an apprentice in Savile Row, where he learned how to make jackets at Gieves and Hawkes.

‘Shock and grief’

In 1996, the man nicknamed “the hooligan of English fashion”, with his close-cropped hair and Doc Martens, was named head designer at the Paris couture house of Givenchy.

A statement released by his office – referring to the designer by his given first name, Lee – read:

“On behalf of Lee McQueen’s family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand has been found dead at his home.

“At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family.

“Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”

Rihanna on The Cover for i D The Lovers of Life Issue

ID’s next issue is all about Love, Sex, and Magic and features Rihanna on the cover. I guess Rihanna represents The Lovers of Life theme. I love the cover of this issue. It’s very simplistic. Willy Vanderperre did a great job shooting this cover.

There’s only one thing I dislike about Rihanna’s cover and that’s her eyebrows. I’m pretty sure it was photoshopped to make them look darker.

Me no likey!
