Dewy Skin

When I pick up some of my favorite magazines and see gorgeous celebrities, the first thing I notice is their skin. I envy celebs like Whitney Port, Halle Berry, and Jennifer Lopez for their dewy, radiant skin. Achieving dewy skin is a great way to showcase your natural beauty and its a look that’s often understated. With the temperatures rising for spring and summer, what better look to show some glow.

I’ll let you in on a little secret. I know a hot tip to getting dewy skin and I’ll even show you another way to achieve this look in 30 seconds flat! So, keep reading…you don’t wanna miss this!

The Secret to Dewy Skin

Rosebud Salve!

The cult-favorite is a multipurpose product. You can use it on the lips, face, body, wherever! If you don’t have this product you should definitely get it. An alternative you can use for dewy skin is vaseline.

Step 1. Grab a big bowl and fill it with water and ice cubes. Don’t have a big bowl?  Use your sink or bathtub.

Step 2. Wash your face (and exfoliate!) and apply a thin layer of Rosebud Salve all over your face.

Step 3. Hold your hair back, and dunk your face below the water. Hold it there for a couple of seconds or as long as you can hold your breath.

Step 4. Wipe off the excess Rosebud salve with tissue and voila….instant radiance!

I’ve done this trick several times and it works. It can be a long process (about 10-15 minutes) so I usually do this at night.

What about when I’m on the go?

No problem!

Dewy Skin in 30 seconds flat!

Step 1. For a quick glow, simply apply a thin layer of Rosebud salve from the apple of your cheekbones to the temples.

Step 2. Grab some blotting sheets or sweep light powder around your oily zones to get the perfect combination of matte and dewy skin.

Rosebud salve can be used as a great highlighter that gives a pearlish glow effect.

That’s it! I hope you enjoy this beauty tip of the week.

I missed the American Music Awards Show last night but I did get a glimpse of the red carpet. Music’s hottest stars came out last night with the glitz and glam and there were a few that took some risks but….. Who took home the trophy for Best Dressed? Check out the best dressed celebs of the night.

From Left to Right:

  • Jessica Alba looked fab in this Cushnie et Oche one shoulder sculptural dress. I really love how she paired her dress with bold silver jewelry, ankle wrap pumps and sleek hair. Very chic!
  • Talk about shocking! Taylor Swift arrived to the AMA’s with a whole new look. I love it! She looked fantastic in a sparkling studded Collette Dinnigan minidress with matching sparkling sandals.
  • Whitney Port looked dashing in her single shoulder draped dress with dangling gem earrings and gray suede pumps.

From Left to Right:

  • Katy Perry glows in this in an embellished pink floral sheath dress with matching pumps and a mix of Brumani and Gray Gallery Jewelry.
  • Rihanna went with a more toned down look in this maroon peekaboo Elie Saab dress which coincidentally matches her hair. For accessories, she chose Neil Lane Jewelry.
  • Miley Cyrus wore a white Marchesa mini dress with a train. I really don’t care for the train but it’s still a fabulous dress. For accessories, she wore Neil Lane jewelry and sparkly heels.

Best Dressed of The Night

Trend Alert: Ombre Hair Color, Yay or Nay?

by Diana Ajih on June 14, 2010

in Hairstyles

Ombré Hair How-To:

When it comes to our hair, color is everything and we do love a fresh do. I like to explore hair colors and it seems that the newest trend on the scene is ombre hair trend. It’s been seen down the Proenza Schouler runway and on celebs too! It won’t be long until the two-toned hair start popping up everywhere.

But what do you think? Is this trend a yay or a nay?

Honestly, I like this hot look and so does Lauren Conrad. It looks great on her… wouldn’t you agree? Kristin Ess of Chris McMillan salon is the woman behind Lauren Conrad’s hair color.

Ombre hair:  How to Dye Lauren Conrad’s Summer Hair Ombre Style!

Lauren’s Ombre haircolor starts with a low volume smudge which only stays on for 15 minutes and takes her natural color to a slightly warmer more golden tone. Kristin then carefully applied a baby highlight around the hairline. Lastly, she added free handed highlights that get heavier toward the bottom, creating a more natural, believable, beachy summer blonde.

Whitney Port has also been rocking the ombre hair blonde look for a while now. Here she is seen on the red carpet at a Nylon summer event party wearing a sleek do. The extra shine brings out the two toned color which makes her blonde ombre hair look even more amazing. Also done by Kristin Ess.

How To Achieve Whitney Port’s Sleek Strands

1. use a soy-based leave in conditioner

2. apply a small amount of Moroccan oil to the ends of the hair

3. flat iron the hair using a Croc flat iron and smooth with an Elchim blow-dryer.

I love the ombre look on just about any hair length, but I gotta say that Lauren and Whitney pull off the ombre look well on their long hairstyles!

NYFW: Whitney Eve Using NYX Professional Makeup

by Diana Ajih on September 14, 2009

in runway

whitney eveWhitney Port’s Whitney Eve Spring 2010 Collection used makeup from NYX Professional performed by Tina Turnbow.

The beauty look was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. There were coral lips and flushed cheeks. It looked appropriate and lovely for spring.

The beauty rundown:

Doll Play: Big lashes are the look for Spring. Tina used Nyx Professional Makeup’s Doll Eye Mascara in Volume to create, big open eyes. For extra definition, the model’s eyes were lined with Nyx Professional Makeup’s Felt Tip Eyeliner in Black, with a sexy cat-eye swoop.

Candy-Colored Eyes: For eyes that popped on the runway, Tina created a colorful, fresh look using Nyx Professional Makeup’s Single Eyeshadows in three steps:
1) Eyelid – Sweep the White Pearl shadow up to the crease to make eyes pop
2) Crease – Use the Golden shade to highlight and add shimmer
3) Contour – Add definition above the crease to the brow bone with shadow in Burgundy Pearl

Get Cheeky: For a youthful, flushed pink cheek, Tina mixed Nyx Professional Makeup’s Rouge Cream Blush in Glow and Hot Pink to apples and contours of the cheek.

Bright Lips: To set off the playful look, Tina selected Nyx Professional Makeup’s Black Label Lipstick in Volcano – a bright, sunny coral shade.

NYX can be found at http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/
and Ulta stores.
