3 Fruit Infused Water Recipes to Delight Your Taste Buds

October 22, 2015

We’ve all heard that we need to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. A daily dose of hydration is essential for overall good health but how often do you hear yourself saying, “I need to drink more water, but plain water is just so boring!” The easiest method I’ve found to make plain water taste better is by infusing it with fruits. Fruits are an important part of a healthy diet as well so now you can enjoy both by creating your own unique fruit infused thirst-quenching water beverage.

In addition to water’s ability to hydrate, fruit infused water can also be meant to soothe and relax, energize and digestion, or even help with boosting metabolism and weight loss with the addition of herbs, spices, and even essential oils! Below are three fruit infused water recipes that can help with each:

1. For Digestion or to Energize

Add: ginger, cinnamon, fennel, cardamom, dill, cumin, caraway, or mint.

Try this Strawberry Orange Mint Fruit Infused Water:

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup fresh mint
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 1/2 orange, sliced
  • 16 ounces filtered water

Add ingredients to a medium size glass.

2. For relaxation or to de-stress

Add: basil, lavender, lemon balm, or chamomile

Try this Grapefruit and Basil Fruit Infused Water recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 a grapefruit
  • 1 or 2 sprigs of mint
  • 16 oz of filtered water

3. For weight loss, boost metabolism, or burn fat

Add: ginseng, red chili or cayenne pepper, cinnamon, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, cumin, acai berry, green tea, or yerba mate

Try this Blueberry and Green Tea Fruit Infused Water Beverage:

Ingredients

• 10-20 fresh blueberries, cut in half or lightly macerated
• 1 green teabag

Add ingredients to medium size glass and filled with water (and ice if you like).

For each recipe, wait as little as 5 minutes or as long as hour for your water to infuse.

When thinking of delicious water creations, try exploring your local food store or farmer’s market to discover what’s in season and start experimenting.

As much as I love drinking my fruit infused water at home, sometimes I want to enjoy it while I’m on the go. I bought this flavor infusion bottle over the summer and now I drink a fruit infused beverage all day everyday. I just toss the bottle in my bag when I’m heading to the gym, a yoga class, or office. I chose this Savvy Infusion water bottle because it’s:

  • Eco-friendly
  • Can hold 24 fluid ounces which is perfect for long commutes
  • Fits perfectly in my car cup holder
  • The bottle is leak-proof

…and it’s just so easy to use!

Head on over to Amazon, and purchase your own (Bonus: It comes with a free ebook filled with tips and recipes)!
