9 Things To Do Before 9 AM For Morning Routine Success

March 9, 2020

things to do before 9am

I’m such a morning person and I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember. I set a daily routine each morning or my entire day will feel off. Honestly, the way you run your morning shapes your entire day.

Most successful people in the world have a morning routine to follow. It’s so effective because it will bring a positive change into your life, helps you stay focused at your job, and let you complete your task most productively.

Read on to find out about 9 things I do before 9am. Yes, it’s my ultimate life success formula. So, let’s get started.

1. Set The Alarm for Earlier

It would be best if you wake up early even if it’s just 15 minutes. Your mind needs some moments of relaxation and calmness before it activates.

Giving yourself those extra minutes will help get your brain into gear so you feel energized and ready to handle your daily routine.

2. Practice self-care

How often do you practice self care? My guess…not as often as you would like. Squeeze in 20 or 30 minutes just focusing on yourself. Here are some ways to practice self-care in the morning:

Meditation // Let your inner-self feel calm and relaxed. If you’re a person who stresses a lot or need help with concentration, meditation would be great for you. Two minutes of silence and focus will end with a sigh of relief and you’ll feeling more at ease to start in the morning.

journaling in morning routine

Journaling // Translate all your emotions and feelings into words through journaling. This method of self-care also works best when you’re feeling depressed or under stress. Write about all the positive things in your life, such as what blessings you have, things you feel grateful for, and etc. The main idea is to replace all your negative thoughts with positive ones.

Acknowledge Your Achievements // Once you get-up, sit on a comfy cushion or couch and then start thinking about your life achievements. Tell yourself how much you’ve achieved, give yourself a virtual pat on the back. This moment of embracing your accomplishment offers an instant boost in self-esteem and gives you the energy to keep moving.

3. Protein-Packed Breakfast

Never miss breakfast in the morning. Your mind needs fuel to think and work productively. Make sure you start your day with a healthy, protein-rich breakfast.

Typically, when you think of protein, chicken and eggs comes to your mind first. In reality, you can go beyond these two ingredients. If you’re not into eggs that morning, then opt for: protein pancakes, greek yogurt, ricotta toast, smoothie, quinoa bowl, and etc. Add as many varieties as you like.

4. Do a Brain Dump

Admit it, as soon as you open your eyes, your mind gets bombarded with a ton of thoughts about life and what you need to do for the day. Here’s an easy fix: grab a pen and paper and start writing about every thought that comes to your mind.

When you write them down, you are embracing them and paying attention to them. Doing a brain dump will help calm your nerves and remain stress-free for the day. Besides, when you have them all written down, you can focus on other more important things in life.

5. Check your to-do list

ridiculously successful people do before 9am

People who are unable to maintain a work-life balance should start creating a to-do list. This simple morning routine helps you balance your work and life in an ideal manner. All you need to do is to create a list of tasks you need to do and prioritize the important ones first by putting a star next to it. This helps you plan out your day to a more productive one. A good plan will let you manage your workload and complete all critical tasks on time.

It’s best to create a to-do list on your mobile phone or a planner, so you can check it from time to time and act accordingly.

6. Drink water

The first thing I do after waking up is go to the kitchen to pour myself a glass of water. Keeping your body hydrated helps you stay focused on your work. It also helps me wake up faster especially on days I have to wake up an hour earlier than normal.

Yes, I always brag about getting my coffee before anything else, but I decided to change things up and drink water first to get that natural boost of energy. Once I’ve tackled all the initial things before 9am, then I’ll make myself some coffee.

7. Exercise

Whether it’s a 10-minute yoga session at home or doing some stretches or push-ups, some form of exercise should be in your morning routine. For example, mornings are the best time I like to do leg stretches or yoga because I know I’m going to be sitting in my home office for hours.

When it comes to picking an exercise, you can go with whatever you like, such as walking, jogging, push-ups, yoga, planks, etc. Just do some form of exercise that gets your blood flowing to the brain and keeps you active.

8. Know What’s For Dinner

Meal planning has really helped me stay organized and stay on budget. Try to do meal planning early in the morning so you know what you’re going to cook once you get home. Once you decide what you are going to cook then have all the required ingredients. Do your grocery shopping on the weekends to make sure you have everything you need for the week.

9. Get Dressed

Even though I work from home, I still like to get dressed up. I feel ready to tackle on the day and if I have to leave to run errands, I’m already fully dressed to go do what I need to do. The flow of my day is a lot a different when I’m dressed up compared to wearing a t-shirt and sweatpants.

So here are the 9 things you should do before 9 am if you want to enjoy success not only in your professional career but also in your personal life. Following these steps will make it possible for you to stay productive so you can slay your goals.
