6 Ways to Craft the Perfect Detox Bath

Sharing is caring!

detox bath

When we sweat, it’s our body’s way of detoxifying. Taking a soak in hot water is a nice and calm way to detox which is why so many people do it. It’s also a great way to ease sore muscles and de-stress after a long day of work or partying the night away.   So what exactly happens during a detox bath? Well, at this day and age, or bodies are more subjected to toxins. It’s in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the medications we take. Our body has a natural detoxification system but when we take a detox bath, it can assist is pulling harmful toxins from our skin.

I love a good soak to not only detox, but to give my skin a little extra love and warmth. I put extra prep work into my soaks to create a luxurious detox bath at home and it feels like I’m having a spa day every time. Afterwards I feel refreshed, relaxed, and rejuvenated and I did so without having to spend an arm and a leg.

With the stresses from everyday life and the holidays looming ahead, I thought I put together a guide on how to craft the perfect detox bath at home complete with my favorite soaks (including my diy recipe!), candles, music, moisturizers, and more to pamper yourself at night. Your mind and body will thank you.

1. Set the Mood with Lighting

diptyque baies candle

Candles can create a soft, romantic ambiance in any room but the key to picking the right candle for your bathroom is a candle scent that is relaxing and creates the perfect environment. Diptyque candles are my favorite because they’re well-known for being curators of unique scents. It also has a long burn time- 60 hours. Popular scent Baies evokes black currant leaves and Bulgarian roses, creating a scent of roses and berries that’s very clean and soft. I love that the scent is not overpowering so it’s perfect to burn for a long period of time. It’s one of Diptyque’s bestsellers for a reason. Available at Nordstrom.

2. Play some music

Create a bath time playlist before your bath so you can play chill bath music while taking deep and relaxed breaths. I linked to a few of my faves here: 8tracks bubble bath // Spotify Spa Hotel

3. Dry brush your skin

dry brush

Using a dry brush before bathing will help improve your well being and skin quality. The bristles will boost blood circulation and the lymphatic system, help reduce cellulite, ingrown hairs, help remove dead skin cells, and invigorate you. We like this brush from Amazon because it has a long handle to easily reach your back and a dual head. One side has natural bristles for exfoliation and the other for cellulite massage.

4. Take a relaxing, detoxifying bath

Here’s the perfect homemade detox bath recipe to heal and boost overall health:

detox bath

 Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Epsom salt
  • 1 cup of sea salt
  • 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup of bentonite clay (or kaolin clay)
  • 5-10 drops of lavender oil or your favorite essential oil blend.

Add ingredients to tub and mix to dissolve. Immerse yourself in the water, close your eyes and soak for 20-40 minutes. Don’t forget to hydrate by drinking water during and after your bath.

beauty by earth bath bombs

If DIY isn’t your thing, bath bombs are another option for a natural and relaxing soak. My favorite is this gift set from Beauty by Earth. I love it because each of the bath bombs have a unique healing and aromatherapy quality about them. If you have sore muscles, use the “muscle relief” bath bomb or if you want to detox, use the “relaxing detox” bath bomb.
