Finding Self Care In Sun Care

Living this quarantine life isn’t easy, but I’ve been focusing on self-care to get me through it. From reading books and cooking homemade meals, to meditating and going on walks. I’m pretty much living a simpler, quieter life.
Out of all the self-care rituals I practice on a daily, the biggest right now is skincare and let me tell you… my skin is looking amazing!
I think the last time I wore makeup was back in April when I went out to buy groceries. These days, I just go bare-face and it’s quite nice. I’ve been sticking to my daily beauty routine (i.e. toner, essence, serum, and moisturizer) like glue, really focusing on the most important step of all…SPF.
Whenever I want a breather and go outside for a walk, I’m wearing an SPF. Even though I’m spending a lot more time at home, I still wear an SPF.
Yes, you still need to wear an SPF because sun damage indoors is a REAL THING!
I had a discussion about this with a friend of mine a year ago and when she dropped this truth bomb on me, I thought she was being paranoid. So, I decided to Google it myself and lo and behold, there were tons of articles about it.
Apparently, UVA rays can still penetrate your windows, so you need to be applying SPF while inside especially if you’re in a room with lots of natural light coming in.
A good SPF that easily blends into the skin is hard to come by until now. Yup, I found the perfect SPF from a brand I love and trust: Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40. I gasped the first time I applied it. Seriously!
It literally disappears into the skin. Yes, I stand a SPF moisturizer that has melanin in mind, lol!
Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 is a game-changer for these reasons:
- Formulated with Amino-Peptide Complex to hydrate, improve elasticity and firm the skin for a lifted look.
- It has an innovative SolaSheer Technology that nourishes, moisturizes and protects the skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays.
- It’s super blendable!
- It transforms from cream to liquid on contact & absorbs super fast.
My skin feels so smooth, moisturized and most importantly, non-greasy. My acne-prone skin loves that the formula is lightweight and leaves a breathable feel. Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, adding an SPF to your routine is a necessity.
Also, enjoy moments of self care outside when you can. Aside from walking, here are some other ways I like to indulge in self-care outside:
- Enjoying a cup of coffee on my patio.
- Gardening in my backyard.
- Doing outdoor yoga on the deck.
- Reading a good book while taking in the fresh air.
And of course, taking my Olay Regenerist Whip SPF 40 with me just in case I need to reapply it.

I will have to look into this product. I use a sunscreen now that I like, but olay sounds amazing.
Sun care is such an important thing. I wish had taken better care of my skin, and I am definitely making a better effort. I’ll have to check this out.
I agree about self care! I always wear my SPF and Olay brand is one of my faves!
Best source of vitamin D for our skin is still a good dose of sunlight. Thanks for the tip that we still need spf indoor.
I’ve tried numerous moisturizers ranging from inexpensive to very expensive and I never thought I would find one that actually did what it said it does. Well this one does! From the very first time I used it I could tell it was different than most moisturizers. It went on smoothly and left my face feeling soft the entire day. After about a week I could notice a big difference in the look of my skin. It was more supple and the fine lines were disappearing, my skin felt like velvet and I even had people wonder if I had work done. Little did they know it was an inexpensive moisturizer that I bought on Amazon. I highly recommend this product to all those ladies out there who have been searching for something that actually works!
