Everything You Need To Know About Jade Rolling

what is jade rolling

I attended a beauty event last year and took home a goodie bag filled with beauty and skincare products. I sat down and looked through the bag to see what treasures I brought home with me. There were sheet masks, sampled makeup, trial size skincare products, and this green looking tool that I’ve seen all across my Instafeed.

It was a jade roller. I kinda new what it was and kinda didn’t and now that I had it in my possession, I wanted to know more about it and how to use it. I figured you’ve probably seen this beauty tool and were curious on how it works. So this post focuses on the what, how and why of jade rolling and the benefits from it.

What is a Jade Roller?

A jade roller is best described as a miniature handheld face massager. Hundreds of years ago, these accessories were used by the Chinese aristocracy, however they have become more popular in America in recent years.

It could be manufactured using picturesque rose quartz or green jade. At the top, it has a handle and rolling piece. Certain models have smaller rollers on their handles at the bottom. This is handy for using on smaller facial areas.

What Are The Skin benefits of Jade Rolling?

Jade rolling offers a number of benefits. These include decreasing the skin’s puffiness and inflammation, decreasing the visibility of circles beneath the eyes (particularly if you use a cold roller), triggering blood circulation and the lymphatic system, tightening pores, improving complexion, reducing fine line visibility, and enabling skincare lotions to penetrate deeper. In addition, jade rolling is a wonderful way to unwind and get ready for bed, following an evening skincare routine. Once you have used a jade roller, your skin will feel relaxed and smooth.

For further puff reducing and skin tightening benefits, you should place your roller in a refrigerator before using it. The cool temperature causes your pores to contract, which reduces puffiness and tightens the skin significantly. Moreover, putting facial oil on before using the roller will enhance your beauty regime and facilitate rolling, while allowing the ingredients to soak into your skin deeper.

How do I use one?

To beautify and depuff, you should roll from the middle of your face towards the sides, then along your neck. Once your skin is clean, put some facial oil droplets onto it (this one and this one are my favorites at the moment). Start at the middle of your face, beneath your cheekbones and eyes, then move outwards to your hairline. Next, move downwards to your jaw, beginning at your chin, then moving outwards to your ear at the bottom.

Also, you can roll above your forehead and eyebrows to ease the stress of staring at a screen during the day. To finish, lightly roll down the side of your neck to the middle of your clavicle. This will direct the toxins that have accumulated in your face to the middle of your body, where they can be neutralized.

What’s the difference between jade rolling and rose quartz?

For many centuries, jade stones were used in rituals to promote longevity and beauty. These stones are healing crystals that help to cleanse and detoxify your body. They can benefit the adrenals and kidneys, which balances your hormones and produces clear, radiant skin.

Rose quartz are love stones, which counteract stress and tension in your body. They relax your nervous system and ease inflammation. Also, they promote the concept of caring for yourself and loving yourself, which is vital to keep your body looking beautiful and feeling healthy.

Can I roll other parts of my body?

Facial rollers allow you to eradicate toxins and activate your lymphatic system gently. Typically, they work better on your face, due to the fact that this is where numerous acupuncture meridians exist. Consequently, you do not need to use a jade roller anywhere else on your body, because the majority of meridian channel points are on your face, so they can be stimulated there.

However, if you like the sensation of using the roller elsewhere, there’s nothing to stop you doing so! It can feel nice to run the roller up and down the side of your neck, particularly after staring at a screen for a lengthy time period.

Is there any post-care after jade rolling?

It is a good idea to apply a moisturizer, after you complete a facial rolling session. You should do this after any facial beauty routine for that matter. A good moisturizer will enhance your results and make your skin glow even more.

Where can I buy one?

Amazon sells a wide variety of jade rollers, so you can look on there to view the different pricing options. In all likelihood, providing it is made from pure jade, you will not have to spend too much to find a roller that fulfills your needs. Nonetheless, rollers that are made from pure Xiuyan jade like this one, are said to benefit the skin more.

These rollers tend to have a rounder shape, so it might be worth getting hold of one. Many facial rollers that are made from rose quartz are beautiful to look at, so you could find yourself tempted to purchase one of these.
