Dandruff is one of the most common hair problems for women especially women with thick, textured hair. During the colder months, I sometimes get dandruff when my hair gets really dry which tells me my scalp is in desperate need of love. So, I started using a new line from Head & Shoulders called Moisture Care that’s designed for textured hair like mine.
Head & Shoulders Moisture Care Collection provides moisture for scalp and hair immediately and over time, helping to eliminate dandruff and leaving you 100% flake-free. The main ingredients include vitamin E rich almond oil, coconut essence and dandruff-fighting ingredient zinc pyrithione (ZPT).
The Moisture Care Collection includes a shampoo, 2-in-1, co-wash and scalp soother. To achieve dandruff-free hair, I started with the Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoo. I liked that it had a very pleasant smell (a hint of coconut) and gives a good lather. Next, was the dandruff shampoo + conditioner combo. It has a thick and creamy consistency and it left my hair and scalp feeling healthy and moisturized.
I followed up with a co-wash. Co-washes is short for conditioner washes and is one of the alternatives to traditional shampooing and conditioning on days women, with thick and textured hair, wish to omit shampoo. I’ve done a few in the past when my hair is not necessarily dirty, but just feels “unclean.” I like that it leaves my hair well-moisturized, since it’s gentler cleansing.
Lastly is the Scalp Soother which I must say is my favorite from the line. It has a Peppermint Oil Complex and Vitamin E to cool the scalp and improve moisture balance. The applicator makes it so easy to apply and I love the cooling sensation on my scalp when I massage it in.
Afterwards, I styled my hair as usual. Did it clear up my flakes? Well a couple of days has past and my hair is still flake-free. My scalp is not as irritated as before and my hair still feels healthy and soft.
