6 Reasons Why You Should Drink Water

Want beautiful healthy skin? Then it is important that you drink a significant amount of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. Our body weight is made up of 60% water so we need it for proper functioning of our body too. I know it can be difficult to stay away from juices, sodas, and other beverages so here are 6 reasons why you should incorporate water in your diet.

  1. It keeps your skin looking great. Well this is an obvious one, yet we still tend to consume massive amount of beverages daily. Truth is, if your skin looks tired, so do you. By keeping your skin hyrdrated, your skin can do its part and remove toxins that builds up inside. Toxins can come from the environment and from you as well, so it needs to be removed constantly.
  2. Healthy Heart- Drinking a good amount of water can actually decrease your chances of heart problems such as a heart attack. Water thins out the blood in your body which makes it easier for blood to pump through the heart. So, your heart will do less work and last longer.
  3. Water gives you energy. Being dehydrated is no fun and with the summer heat still blazing, you are more likely to suffer from dehydration if you’re not consuming enough or any water. Dehydration takes away all your energy and makes you feel tired. It can also lead to fatigue, dizziness, and weak muscles.
  4. Decrease risk in some cancers. Our digestive system needs a significant amount of water so drinking more of it can help cure problems with the digestive system that leads to some cancers. Drinking more water daily has been known to reduce the risk of colon cancer by up to 45%. It can also reduce the risk of bladder cancer by 50% and reduce the risk of breast cancer.
  5. Weight loss and Exercise- Water is the best choice for losing weight because it replaces high calorie drinks which has a lot of sugar and carbs. It also makes you feel less hungry by acting as a stomach suppressant. It’s imperative that you drink water before and after exercising to keep you hydrated throughout your workouts. Dehydration can slow down your workouts so make sure to take a bottle of water when heading to the gym.
  6. It’s CHEAPER! Why spend a $1 on a 16oz or 20oz soda when you can buy a gallon of water. You can get more with your money and it’s healthier. It’s also been said that tap water is just as clean and safe as bottled water so go buy a filter for your kitchen sink and drink free water from home.

So how much water should you drink a day? Well that question has been debatable for sometime now. “Drink 8 glasses of water a day” is a lot of water to take a day if you factor in a person’s body weight, if you exercise a lot, or if you’re sick (just to name a few). Your best bet is to come up with some routine. Drink water between and during meals, before and after you exercise, and when you wake up.

So if possible, drink less beverages and more water to maintain the health and beauty of your body.

Stila’s Cherry Crush Lip and Cheek Stain

Another lipgloss that delivers health and beauty to lips. I love the smell of this stuff. This lipgloss and cheek stain is infused with cherry and pomengranate extracts which not only moisturizes, but reacts with the ph level of the skin giving you deeper lip color and brighter cheeks. It also has other antioxidants like Vitamin A, C, and E for added moisture.
It is a water based formula so it’s a bit thinner than the normal lipglosses.

My review:
I’ve always been a fan of Stila’s products but for this particular one, I’m not completely convinced. I tried and experimented with it a couple of times and I noticed that the lip stain gets inside the lines of my lips after a couple of hours. That’s not hot at all. So if you have dry or cracked lips, and lips with deep lines, I wouldn’t recommend this product. I think it’s best for people with very smooth lips. I like the cheek stain and I only need a small amount. I guess it all depends on your skin. You might need a little more or a little less.
On a positive note, I do love the smell, and I do love the fact that it has antioxidants such as Vitamin A, C, and E. I would probably rate it a 3 out of 5.

Does Acne Supplements Aid in Healthy Skin?

So here’s the big question. Does over the counter acne pills work or don’t work? I’ve been asking myself this question for years and I have been frightened to waste my money on them. So a couple of weeks ago, I marched into Sephora and bought this product I have been itching to try called Murad Pure Skin Clarifying Supplement Tablets. I’ve tried topical, prescription products in the past like Retin A and differin put I still get a breakout or two once in a while. It can be so frustrating. I said to myself, “you know what, it’s time to try a new approach with your skin.” So I looked into supplements that can help clear my acne and Murad seemed like the right fit.

Murad Pure Skin Clarifying Supplement Tablets claims to reduce breakouts by up to 55% in six weeks and that it will improve the overall health of the skin from the inside out. This product has B-complex and zinc which is known to help heal the skin, prevent clogged pores, and reduce inflammation. (Which attracted me to this product)

So here’s my review:

I’ve been using this product a little over two weeks now and I do see a little difference in my skin. My skin feels less oily. I still have a couple of my old breakouts on my face but I think they will go away if I continue to use this product. But so far I don’t see my face getting any worse and it feels cleaner, like my pores can breathe. I guess I’ll have to see when it’s six weeks.

The only downside I have is first the smell. It’s not that great. Secondly, you have to take this twice a day everyday. You must maintain the skincare regimen if you want to see results. It can be hard sometimes to remember to take a pill twice a day. Lastly, is the size of the pills. It’s pretty large and I hate when I take them because they sometimes get stuck in my throat. I try and drink a lot of water for it to go down. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t.

It’s up to you if you want to take over the counter acne supplements and I see no harm in trying them out. I’ll keep everyone posted a month from now about my results.

I first heard about Lush cosmetics 2 years ago when my co-worker bought me LUSH soaps as a christmas present. Ever since then, I was in love. They smell so nice and it looks and smells so fresh. Bikram Yoga Increases Health and Weight Loss

Credit:YogaMonth.orgMy friend and I checked out this new yoga class in L.A. called Bikram yoga aka Hot Yoga. This type of yoga is very popular in L.A. so we decided to take a class. OMG!!!!!!!!!, the classroom was heated up to like 100 degrees. I didn’t think I could survive. I sweated like I have never sweated before in my life. I probably lost 10 lbs in that 90 minute class. Supposedly this type of yoga is designed as a rejuvenating exercise that strenghtens the body from head to toe. Not only can you drop a significant amount of weight doing a couple of classes, your flexibity increases too! Doing some of the poses was easier for me to do since I was in a heated room. For people who are new to yoga or would like to try a different style, go check out Bikram yoga studios in your area. Trust me when I say you’ll be dripping with sweat. If you are starting a weight loss program, it may be helpful for you to know that there are some simple steps you can take to make any weight loss program more effective. I will share 7 tips, that I have used, to be successful in maintaining your health and improving weight loss.

Health Tip #1: Realistic Goals
The fastest way to lose motivation is to set unrealistic weight loss goals for yourself before you even start your weight loss program, so ask yourself: What do you want to achieve from this weight loss program? and How much weight do you want to lose in a day, a week or a month? Each small goal you achieve will propel you closer to your final destination. But if you set unrealistic goals, you will only end up in frustration and disappointment when they are not achieved, even when you are making great progress in your weight loss.

Health Tip # 2: Preparation is the Key
Now is the time to start a new lifestyle and start getting rid of your junk food, your sodas in the refrigerator, and those chocolates you stash in your drawer! Make a new list of the food you need and start stocking on them in large quantities. I always include vegetables, fruits, healthy snacks, mineral waters and vitamins and minerals supplements in my daily diet.

Health # 3: Reward system
This is a great way to keep yourself motivated. I create a reward system to stay on my weight loss goals. For instance, you may want to get yourself new makeup, a new CD or even a new handbag if you reach a certain point in your weight loss efforts.

Health # 4: Healthy Breakfast
This is the most important meal that you should never miss. Skipping breakfast means that you are programming your brain to think that you’re hungry, starved, and deprived. This will only cause you to feel lethargic and when the pressure is too much, you may decide to embark on an eating binge. This is sheer suicide so don’t avoid breakfast!

Health # 5: Exercise
For long lasting effects and to boost the rate of your weight loss and health, this is one important activity you must include into your routine. No weight loss challenge can be successful without a good exercise program. Choose a good exercise program that lets you burn fat and gives a good cardiovascular exercise at the same time.

Health # 6: Sleep
I make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day. You should too. This helps to keep your bodily system working in perfect order, which is crucial to the success of your weight loss program.

Health # 7:Relaxation
This is important in any weight loss program and you should make relaxation a crucial part of your schedule. Meditation, relaxation and affirmations can help boost your confidence and make the process more enjoyable.

By following these seven simple tips, you can start seeing results in your efforts to lose weight. Be consistent and make them part of your lifestyle and success in improving your health.
