Berries offer the most antioxidants than most fruits and summer is a prime time to indulge in these. This healthy fruit smoothie is perfect for breakfast, a snack, or if you just want a drink to help you cool off while eating barbeque on the 4th of July. The berries are sweet but a bit tart yet they nicely contrast with the sweetness of the cream. It’s the perfect balance of flavors.
This delicious ice cold fruit smoothie is perfect for anytime of the year, not just summer.

- 1 1/4 cups apple juice
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of frozen strawberries
- 1 cup of frozen raspberries
- 1/2 cup of 1% or skim milk
- 6 oz of vanilla lowfat yogurt or organic vanilla greek yogurt
- 6-7 ice cubes
- 1/2 cup of cranberry juice
- 1 cup of blue berries
- 1/4 cup of blackberries
- 3 oz vanilla lowfat yogurt or organic vanilla greek yogurt
- 7 ice cubes
Serving Size: 4
Step 1. For the red layer, put all the ingredients in the blender and blend for 1 minute. Pour equal amounts into each glass (4 in total). Rinse out blender.
Step 2. Next is the white layer which is also the middle layer. Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend for 1 minute. Pour equal amounts into each glass. Rinse out blender.
Step 3. For the top layer, put all the ingredients under the blue/purple layer and blend for 1 minute. Pour equal amounts into each glass.
Step 4. Use a utensil (ex: straw, spoon, or whatever) and swirl it around a bit to get the tie-dye effect.
Step 5. Top with berries for garnish and add a straw. It’s now ready to serve!
