My work-life balance is pretty crazy these days. I’m getting a lot more projects which is great for my small business, but it can also be tiresome especially when I have to consider my travel plans this month as well as carving some “me time” out of my busy schedule.
My day starts around 7am during the work week. I would make a cup of joe and a healthy breakfast before opening up my laptop. By mid-day, I’m already feeling exhausted and the snacks I normally eat, just doesn’t give me that boost of energy I need to keep going. I just want to fall asleep at this point.
Recently, I learned about this new Super Foods Smoothie mix from OLLY and after reading all the nutritional benefits, I knew it was exactly what I needed and so I gave it a try. It’s completely plant-based and free of hormones and antibiotics. I love how easy it is to mix it into whatever smoothie concoction I’m craving for the day (or you can just mix with water alone). My current fave at the moment is this Strawberry Banana Smoothie.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
- 1 cup of fresh strawberries
- 1 whole banana
- 2 scoops of OLLY Super Foods Protein Smoothie
- 2 cups of almond milk
- 1 tsp of chia and flaxseed blend
Add all the ingredients into a blender, and pulse until combined. If the smoothie is too thin, add more ice and/or fruit. If too thick, add more almond milk.
Serving Size: Makes 2
I feel a lot more energy now than before. I guess I wasn’t consuming enough protein to last me through the day. I would normally reach for carbs but now I see that consuming more protein is better because it is metabolized more slowly than fat or carbohydrates, which aids in appetite control. Actually, 20% of our bodies are made up of protein so by adding a plant protein like OLLY Superfoods Protein Smoothie, I feel fuller and energized for hours. Maintaining my work-life balance is a lot less difficult now.
